Quote:Dan, may the blessings of God be with you, you must understand most nonmuslims have never been really introduced into the whole muslim world as you have. As a "nasrani", i do not have as much knowledge of Islam so I find out what I can and ask others questions to add to my knowledge. I mean as you said it may take more than a lifetime to understand Islam so why not speed up the process and ask questions of the board.

Serahpim, let me try and explain what my brother Dan is aiming for without putting words in his mouth. It is just that what he meant by u might be learning for life time and the rest of his comment, is in no way a discouragement for u and the like to come and ask questions. Remember he himself is a revert. I mean he was not a Muslim and certainly asked questions. What he is referring to is that in some cases people come to the board for whatever intention, and start asking questions. Members give the reply with the Assistance of Allah, as clear as possible, they still continue to ask about the same point like no one even talked to them.
That is when Dan feels that may be this person is not grasping or us not articulating our replies well enough.
He wanted to make a point that Islam is not about all the usual areas which raise discussion, but about totally something different. Besides that knowledge in general is never attained at once, I mean we go thru primary education, to high school to graduate school then post grad and so on. One lives the whole life learning. This is what Dan wanted to say.
And once u understand what Tawheed is then you had a good idea about what Islam is all about. But certainly you are not obliged to embrace it.
Did I help?
