how many rakat do you have in Isha salaat

Salaam brothers and sister , I am a bit lost on this topic how many salaat do you have in Isha nazam


as i understand its as follows


First four rakat fard { which is a must do }


then three rakat wajib{ which is a must do}


have i miss any thing else here.

For salat il ishaa ur right there is 4 rakat fard then there are 2 rakat sunnah (emphasized by the prohet pbuh) and then witr it can be 1, 3, 5 or an odd number of rakat and for the witr it can be prayed at any time after ishaa as long as its before salat il fajr preferably in the middle of the night. It was strongly recommended by the Prophet (pbuh). Witr literally means an odd number and is commonly prayed as three rakats.


4 fard, 2 sunnah, 3 witr (usually)

Salaam brother Muslimah , i use just pray 4 frad and 3 witr and never did 2 sunnah , so what you are staying is that 2 sunnah is a must ?

Asalamu Alaikum brother, actually I am a sister (muslimah) :)


Yes I am saying that 2 sunnah should be prayed but hence the word sunnah meaning its not obligatory but emphasized because the prophet pbuh used to pray it as well.


Obligatory for all salat (a must)


2 fard for fajr


4 fard for duhr


4 fard for asr


3 fard for maghrib


and 4 fard for ishaa


and sunnah is emphasized and it is better to pray these as well


2 sunnah for fajr (prayed before the 2 fard)


2 or 4 sunnah for duhr (prayed before the 4 fard of duhr) and then 2 sunnah after the 4 fard of duhr


most scholars say there is no sunnah before or after salat al asr but some say their are 2 or 4 sunnah before salat al asr


2 sunnah for al maghrib (prayed after the 3 fard)


and ishaa 2 sunnah after the 4 fard and witr can be performed any times afterwards and can be 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, or 11 rakats


So when it is said sunnah its the way of the prophet pbuh and it is emphasized and is better to do since we are followin his teachings


In summary,

Sister i think there is a definately a different of option here amongst mulsim i shall take your advice on isha salaat but must stress


i am not sure about Zhor and asar.

More then happy to help


for the duhr majority of scholars say 2 sunnah after the 4 fard but before the 4 fard some say only 2 others say it is 4 sunnah so that depends I do 4 sunnah and if I'm incorrect may allah forgive me


and for the asr I only perform the 4 fard because I found more scholars say there is no sunnah before or after and again if I am wrong may allah forgive me.
