A Question
#1

Bismillah, Assalamo Alikum,

I have a question concerning Halal food.

Sometimes when we go buy fresh fish here in China, they pull out the fish from the water, then they hit so hard on the head and the fish immediately die, then they start cleaning it. are we allowed to eat such fish?

Another question, I go for fishing and I enjoy it a lot, but many a times when I catch small fishes I feel sorry for them “<i>because they are still young</i>” :D , then I throw them back into the water, is this Halal or Haram?

Thanks and I hope to get some opinions from you all insh a Allah.

If the fish is not already dead it has to be dead before eating it. And there is no halal slaughter for sea food to my knowledge.

The Qur'an say:

''<b>Lawful to you is</b> the pursuit of water-game <b>and its use for food</b>,- for the benefit of yourselves and those who travel; but forbidden is the pursuit of land-game;- as long as ye are in the sacred precincts or in pilgrim garb. And fear Allah, to Whom ye shall be gathered back. '' 5:96

Muslim

Volume 5, Book 59, Number 648:

Narrated Jabir:

We set out in the army of Al-Khabt and Abu Ubaida was the commander of the troops. We were struck with severe hunger and <b>the sea threw out a dead fish </b> the like of which we had never seen, and it was called Al-'Anbar. We ate of it for half a month. Abu Ubaida took (and fixed) one of its bones and a rider passed underneath it (without touching it). (Jabir added:) Abu 'Ubaida said (to us), "Eat (of that fish)." When we arrived at Medina, we informed the Prophet about that, and he said, "<b>Eat, for it is food Allah has brought out for you</b>, and feed us if you have some of it." So some of them gave him (of that fish) and he ate it.

If the fish is not hurt in the process when you take it up from the water, could it then not just go back into the sea for a longer while?

I understand, but I would like to know if hitting the fish on the head before dying makes them halal or not?

Of course the fish get hurts by the hooks when pulling them up from the water by the fishing rod, so am I allowed to throw them back into the water or I must eat them?

Jazakum Allahu khiran.

Best brother, for now I don't have any answer to your following questions.

I just want to apologize since when rereading my answer I would not be surprised if you misunderstood my very short answer. I have been writing so much in Swedish lately so I beginning to feel at bit rusty when it comes to English and my intention was to try to express me in a more suitable manner than I did.

So sorry brother if you took my reply in a bad manner.
