A Comparison

Glory to the Word made flesh!

May the Peace of Christ be with you!

Quote:Always glad to hear your comments.

More than once it seems

Quote:I was talking about the name of your religion, not what the followers of Christ should be called…

Sorry, I don't get it :conf06:

Quote:First of all, its not only one of its member who said that, but <b>the majority of Anglican Bishops do not worship Jesus pbuh as God.</b>

again am quoting what was found in the British news papers:

Out of curiosity... do you ever quote British newspapers when they write articles on Islam & Terrorism???

Wael, only one layperson (there's no such thing as Anglican Bishops as far as I'm concerned) was quoted in the article. I'm not going to speak on behalf of anyone else. Besides, you should be having this conversation with Anglicans. What the Anglican Church thought 20 years ago has no effect on me whatsoever. I'd rather discuss Islam than Protestantism.

Quote:Any sane person can understand why they are in conflict, I say because <b>there is not a single verse in the whole Bible where Jesus explicitly declared that he was God.</b>

My thread in 'Discussion of Beliefs' is patiently waiting for you :)

Quote:"And this is life eternal, that <b>they might know thee the only
true God</b>, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." John 17:3

Without the help of any Church's interpretation or the Holy Ghost, to me <i>ONLY means ONLY</i>... <b>can never be (me "jesus" too is included)</b>

A N D... someone who was SENT, in the English language we call him a messenger, and this is what Jesus pbuh said about himself.

Catholics believe in ONLY One God too :)

Here's the verse in context for you & Mr Heinz Zahrnt to read & understand that Jesus Christ is the Son of God whom the Father sent...

<i>When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify thy Son that the Son may glorify thee, since thou hast given him power over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom thou hast given him. And this is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent. I glorified thee on earth, having accomplished the work which thou gavest me to do; and now, Father, glorify thou me in thy own presence with the glory which I had with thee before the world was made. ..."</i>

I chopped the passage in half, but do yourself a favour read it in its entirety. You'll be totally spell bound!!!

Quote:It's not going to disappear FHC, did any of your posts disapeared before? … don’t worry, am going to post my comments soon insh a Allah.

Yes, I have had posts deleted in the past. It's all good :thumb:

Radiyah has already issued me a warning, so please change gears & speed it up - hehe!

You're not required to comment if it's unnecessary.

Quote:"There is among them (Jews) a section <b>who distort the Book with their tongues: (as they read) you would think it is a part of the Book, but it is no part of the Book; and they say, 'That is from Allah,' but it is not from Allah: It is they who tell a lie against Allah and (well) they know it!" </b> (Surah 3, Ali 'Imran, verse 78).

"But because of their breach of their Covenant, We cursed them, and made their hearts grow hard: <b>They change the words from their (right) places and forget a good part of the Message that was sent them</b>, nor wilt thou cease to find them- barring a few- ever bent on (new) deceits: But forgive them, and overlook (their misdeeds): For God loveth those who are kind" (Surah 5, Al Ma'idah, verse 13).

I agree that Christians misrepresent the Law in their words & actions, breach the Covenant & live up to the message of Christ. But does the Qur'an say that the written Scriptures have been tampered with???

Quote:Where are these <b>ORIGINAL</b> scriptures? and how did you know that they are matching perfectly with the catholic BibleS?? and how can i get copy of those original manuscripts to compare them with today's Bible? and do you have any original that was writting in the language that was spoken by Jesus pbuh himself?

Most of these manuscripts are in the Vatican Apostolic Library. You can run an internet search for more info. They've been thoroughly examined. You can read them in English by purchasing a catholic Bible from your local bookshop ;)

Jesus Christ spoke Aramaic, however, the O/T was originally written in Hebrew & the N/T was originally written in Greek.

Quote:What a great idea!! is this how you guys are expert in changing the words :D

"Not to oppose error is to approve it; and not to defend truth is to suppress it" - Pope St. Felix III (483-492).

Quote:If i am bothering you that much please let me know, no hard feelings at all. :)

No, you're not bothering me. I hope I'm not bothering you.

Catch ya later, Mate!

God bless.

Here I am replying to my own post - LOLLLLLLLLL!

We really should be allowed more time to edit.

The above quote should read... <i>"I agree that Christians misrepresent the Law in their words & actions, breach the Covenant & <b>don't</b> live up to the message of Christ. But does the Qur'an say that the written Scriptures have been tampered with???"
</i>

Just thought I'd clarify my point.

I'm very interested in this topic because I'm familiar with the Islamic doctrine of Taref (corruption) but as far as I know it's not supported by Allah's revelations or Mohammad's sayings (PBUH). It's an idea that developed centuries after your prophet's death (PBUH).

Wael, I'm sceptikal of your belief in Taref because if you thought there was truth to it, you wouldn't constantly quote from the Holy Bible.

Furthermore, if you stop & think about it... had the Catholic Church altered the original texts, she would've definitely inserted numerous verses regarding the Blessed Trinity & Incarnation... as you keep pointing out...

<i>"Jesus never taught trinity, unless you bring some verses from your Book of authority to support your claim (i.e that Jesus revealed this supernatural truth to the world etc) then you should not promote such thing."
</i>

"Any sane person can understand why they are in conflict, I say because there is not a single verse in the whole Bible where Jesus explicitly declared that he was God."

I guarantee you that Catholic Bibles are authentic. Did you know that Jews aren't allowed to print the Torah? Instead, they handwrite their copies on scrolls & if they make a tiny mistake, they immediately start all over again!!! For thousands of years, Jews have preserved the Old Testament word for word & dot to dot! & if you thought that was extreme, would you believe that they also memorize & recite the entire Torah? Anyways, my point is... the Catholic Church has remained faithful to the Holy Bible since day one. You can't improve on perfect ;)

Like I said earlier, I agree with the Qur'an that many Catholics stray from the path that God set, but that reflects their human weaknesses... it has nothing to do with Scripture!

Thanks for hearing me out. I think I'll go read the Holy Bible now & do some soul searching :)

Peace, love & blessings.

Quote:Sorry, I don't get it

You said: <b>"Christian" simply refers to a follower of Christ”</b>

You were against the bishops who do not believe in the virgin birth of Jesus pbuh because it was weird for any Christian to reject this fact since this event was <i>“described in the Bible” </i> so I I was saying, how can you call your religion as “Christianity”, when in fact this word (Christianity) was never mentioned in the Bible to describe Jesus’ religion?

Quote:"There is among them (Jews) a section who distort the Book with their tongues: (as they read) you would think it is a part of the Book, but it is no part of the Book; and they say, 'That is from Allah,' but it is not from Allah: It is they who tell a lie against Allah and (well) they know it!" (Surah 3, Ali 'Imran, verse 78).
"But because of their breach of their Covenant, We cursed them, and made their hearts grow hard: They change the words from their (right) places and forget a good part of the Message that was sent them, nor wilt thou cease to find them- barring a few- ever bent on (new) deceits: But forgive them, and overlook (their misdeeds): For God loveth those who are kind" (Surah 5, Al Ma'idah, verse 13).

I agree that Christians misrepresent the Law in their words & actions, breach the Covenant & live up to the message of Christ. But does the Qur'an say that the written Scriptures have been tampered with???

The Qur’anic statement is really clear <b>“they change the words from their (right) places and forget a good part of the message that was sent to them”</b> So the written scriptures was interpolated and tampered by men to suite their own desires.

In another verse God clearly talked about those who have been changing <b>the Bible/Biblios/The Book </b> with their own hand to gain a very small benefit.

<b>"Know they not Allah Knoweth what they conceal and what they reveal? And there are among them illiterates, who know not the Book [the Bible], but (see therein their own) desires, and they do nothing but conjecture. Then woe to those who write the Book [the Bible] with their own hands, and then say: 'This is from Allah,' To traffic with it for a miserable price! Woe to them for what their hands do write, and for the gain they make thereby.</b> (Quran, 2:77-79)"

Quote:Most of these manuscripts are in the Vatican Apostolic Library. You can run an internet search for more info. They've been thoroughly examined. You can read them in English by purchasing a catholic Bible from your local bookshop

Great, so do you know who are the real authors of those manuscripts? Do you know how many Bible scholars have gone through those<b> “so called original scriptures”</b> and shouted loudly that <b>THEY ARE NOT MATCHING WITH TODAY’S BIBLE </b> and sadly his voice was not heard? Do you know that <b>the Roman Catholic Encyclopedia admits that the Bible was “altered”? </b>

Quote:No book of ancient times has come down to us exactly as it left the hands of its author-- all have been in some way altered. The material conditions under which a book was spread before the invention of printing (1440), the little care of the copyists, correctors, and glossators for the text, so different from the desire of accuracy exhibited to-day, explain sufficiently the divergences we find between various manuscripts of the same work. To these causes may be added, in regard to the Scriptures, exegetical difficulties and dogmatical controversies. To exempt the sacred writings from ordinary conditions a very special providence would have been necessary, and it has not been the will of God to exercise this providence."

The Roman Catholic Encyclopedia

Do you know what the commentators of the NIV said about the gospel of Mark?

Quote:"Although there is no direct internal evidence of authorship, it was the unanimous testimony of the early church that this Gospel was written by John Mark. (From the NIV Bible Commentary, page 1488)"

<b>about Mark 16:9-20: they say</b>

Quote:"Serious doubts exists as to whether these verses belong to the Gospel of Mark. They are absent from important early manuscripts and display certain peculiarities of vocabulary, style and theological content that are unlike the rest of Mark. His Gospel probably ended at 16:8, <b>or its original ending has been lost</b>. (From the NIV Bible Foot Notes, page 1528)"

This is scary to me, because many Christian cults today use poisonous snakes in their worship and end up dying.

The quote of <b>"or its original ending has been lost"</b> proves that what we call today "Gospels" were not written by their original authors such as Mark, John, Matthew, etc...

Quote:would you believe that they also memorize & recite the entire Torah?

The Bible wasn't memorized by anyone, nor was documented by it's Prophets. Unlike the Qur’an which was memorized by Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and his followers till this day.

So do you really want to discuss this subject? I don’t want you to get emotional again or feel that I am trying to win a debate with you (which is not my intention at all)..

I cannot justly respond to this accusation in one post, we need volumes and volumes just to describe the manners and morals of Prophet Muhammad pbuh... <b>So if you are truly honest with yourself and care to learn more about this great man pbuh, then click on the following link and do yourself a favor by learning morals and ethics through the best example ever sent to the whole humanity, Muhammad pbuh. </b>

wel mel have you been sitting too close to the glue pot again?

i have given the equal amount of attitude that i have received :)

Quote:Whenever we mention the name of Jesus Christ we immediately add the phrase “peace be upon him” out of respect and reverence for this great man of God, but see how disrespectful person you are to refer to our beloved Prophet pbuh as ‘Mo’!!! words are empty and hollow actions are what matter and whats in a persons heart.

Quote:am sorry, but what example are you talking about? <b>Are you talking about the account of Paul who has preached in the NT more than anyone else and more than Jesus himself? </b> Out of the 27 Books of the New Testament, more than half is authored by Paul. If you can lay your hands on what is called "'A Red Letter Bible," you will find every word alleged to have been uttered by Jesus pbuh in red ink and the rest in normal black ink. <b>Don't be shocked to find that in this so called ‘Gospel of Jesus’, over 90% of the 27 Books of the New Testament is printed in black ink!</b> So what example are you talking about? OMG i cant believe any intelligent being even spouted this, Jesus led a life of peace, he healed the sick and the lame he did not conquor lands he did not have armies, he didnt plunder or pillage, he didnt contribute to any bodys suffering, he gave every thing and anything to those in need. when the soldiers came to arrest him one of the soldiers ears was cut off and he healed it, he went peacefully, the thing is you can pick and slander the bible all you wish but you cant deny the fact that Jesus led by the example he wanted from those who follow god. it seems to really burn you guys that Jesus was such a shining light of Peace, Hope and Love.

Quote:<b>Can you follow the example of Jesus pbuh as a father, grandfather, a husband, a military leader, etc???</b> <b>You simply cannot follow the example of Jesus Christ pbuh in all aspect of life</b>. Alhamdulelah, anything that we need in our life, whether social, economic, political, religious, commercial and cultural issues, <b>can be found only in the life of Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. </b>

father - Yes, grandfather - see father, Husband - well see the thing is Jesus was like CRUCIFIED !!!! that kinda puts a kink in anybodies future parental plans. lol Military leader????? you have proved the point im trying to make. Jesus would never had allowed himself to be involved in anything to do with taking a life.

Exactly, and that’s why Jesus addressed his mother as <b>WOMAN</b> instead of a mother!! so i can see clearly from where did you get this behavior.

So did Muhammad pbuh…

Quote:he healed the sick

so did Muhammad pbuh by Allah’s leave.

Quote:he didnt plunder or pillage,

stop, am going to die of laughing :D … how can a person who was called <b>ASSADIQ (The truthful) and AL AMIN (The trustworthy one)</b> by his enemies could steal? Please give yourself a break.

Jesus Christ is the foundation of our Religion. Christianity is the fitting tern for the Christian faith.

Who said it's not mentioned in the Holy Catholic Bible? Acts 26:28.

Quote:In another verse God clearly talked about those who have been changing <b>the Bible/Biblios/The Book </b> with their own hand to gain a very small benefit. (Quran, 2:77-79)"

The Roman Catholic Encyclopedia

Do you know what the commentators of the NIV said about the gospel of Mark?

God is the primary author of Scripture. I guarantee you that the Catholic biblical scholars & archaeologists who scrutinized the manuscripts can be trusted.

<i>Do you know</i> that you have selected hearing (reading)? The quote you used from NewAdvent is speaking about ancient books in general being altered, not the Bible as such  You crack me up, Wael! I wish you'd read an entire paragraph for once.

Unless there are Protestants in the house who wish to discuss their NIV Bible with you, your words have fallen on deaf ears, sorry! I skipped over that part without reading it. I'm Catholic (thanks be to God). The sacred text for Protestants is as useful to me as the Bhagavad-Gita. Don't get me wrong, I respect them, but I'm not qualified enough to comment.

Quote:The Bible wasn't memorized by anyone, nor was documented by it's Prophets. Unlike the Qur’an which was memorized by Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and his followers till this day.

There were various versions of the Qur'an spreading rapidly after the prophets death (PBUH) & caliphs attempted to burn numerous copies, however, were unable to. True or false? Please provide a long & convincing answer, after all, we're here to discuss Islam not Christianity.

Quote:Exactly, and that’s why Jesus addressed his mother as <b>WOMAN</b> instead of a mother!! so i can see clearly from where did you get this behavior.

Jesus called the Blessed Virgin Mary "Woman" to signify that she's the new Eve - the one who obeyed God's command & became the Mother of all God's creatures. Simply beautiful

Quote:What about Moses pbuh? Didn’t he <b>IN YOUR BIBLE </b> conquered lands and killed everybody except young girls which God commanded him to keep them for himself? Can you say a word about this blessed Prophet Moses pbuh?

Here's the answer I gave Shaunee when she brought it up a while back...

Whenever reading the O/T, you must keep in mind that all the events lead up to the coming of Israel's Messiah.

To cut a long story short...

The Midianites (descendents of Abraham & his concubine) were seducing the Israelites to fall into idolatry & intermarriage. Moses instructed his army to spare the female virgin because of their purity. If the Israelites had mated with the unclean Midianites, it would've destroyed the Messianic line. This battle ensured the extermination of the Midianites & prevention of further sin.

Quote:Not really, <b>For us it’s so funny because you guys believe Jesus pbuh is God, and yet you are trying to compare him with man… </b>

Regardless of what TC thinks (sorry Mate), Jesus Christ is the Son of God & the Perfect Man. Through the Incarnation the 2nd Divine Person of the Most Holy Trinity assumed a sinless human nature. Wael, were you lying to me when you said you read my thread in "Discussion of Beliefs" or are you just arguing with TC for the sake of winning instead of acquiring truth?

Whatever! I'll leave you guys alone for the time being! I'm taking the rest of the night off :sleep2:

Please play nice, boys :placate:

Peace & Blessings!
