Saying Khuda Hafiz and Allah Hafiz
Quote:Salaam everyone
Jus wanted to bring something to attention which i find is a possible danger to some of us muslims who may say "khuda Hafiz" or "Allah Hafiz" before parting with a fellow muslim. I myself use to say Allah Hafiz before til i read this......
Saying Khuda Hafiz and Allah Hafiz:
1) The word Khuda (god) is used in Persian to be a name of a particular idol; they worship even presently in Iran and other places. And when you say Hafiz (protect) with it, you mean May Hafiz (the person idol) protect you.
2) From another angle, at the least if the above is not accepted, (which is the case from some who may argue that..." we don’t know of any Persian idol called Khuda and we take the literal meaning god.....etc, etc..") then it is a bid’ah because:
a) This was not mentioned by the prophet (sallallaahualayhi wasallam) nor the Sahaabah (radiyallaahu anhumaa), they did not do this, nor did the messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) leave us without a saying for greeting/parting. It is authentically reported from many hadeeth, that the messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) told us to say Assalaamu Alaikum wa rahma.....to the end... So why do we see fit to abandon the Sunnah for the bid’ah (innovation). When the Salaf use to say....."no Sunnah is abandoned except a bid’ah appears to replace it...”
b ) Also the prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said that every bid’ah is a leading astray, an every leading astray will lead to the fire. So this hadeeth shows that a bid’ah will start small then end up becoming big (by being A sending astray first - then progressing to put you in the fire...). So now look, those who accepted the explanation in (1) above then changed to saying “Allah Hafiz" when above then changed to saying “Allah Hafiz" which neither is nor shirk in speech, but now an innovation which people will find hard to reject, so by that the bid’ah has become more anchored and thus progressing to put us in the fire.
So plz jus stick to the sunnah brothers and sisters. JazakAllah
hope you are all well n in the best of imaan. Fi amanillah. was'salaam
Salaam
Its quite an interesting topic and therefore I hope you dont mind me using it to post on my other 30 forums so I can see the response.
I have to admit though I dont use this terminology as Im used to saying Salaam and Ma'asalaama, but to be honest its better this way as we know we are following the sunnah... theres alot of tribal leaders that prefer such cultural way of life but we can only do so much to teach them that maybe their cultural way of life must be Islam and not innovations, I don't know if this is bidah but its best to stick by what we have been taught in islam and not how we were raised through generations...
If we ignore Islam and follow cultural/traditions we will eventually lose Islam and go estray... we should use the Sunnah as an example to teach ourselves, older generations and our children who have yet to come... and make sure they stay focused on islam for many generations to come...
Anyway you take care; I hope to hear from you soon, Inshallah.
Ma'asalaama
I pray Allah (swt) blesses us with happiness, protects and guides us, and grants us a place in Jannah. Ameen
