Some words which I know
#1

Assalaamoalaikum

These are some words which I know and are easy

انسان = Human = Insaan

بيت = house = bait

تمر = Dates = tamr

ثمر = fruit = thamr

حسن = beautiful = hasan

خبز = Bread

ولد = boy = walad

درس = Lesson = dars

عادل = Just = 'adil

يوم = Day = yaum

و = and = wa

او = or[/size:4f4bfafb86] = au

Some of the definations might not be exact, but somewhere around there. I have added the transliteration, but Its very hard to transliterate. The Prounciations are different, and the english alphabets wouldn't sound exactly correct.

I am trying not to over burden them, but then they can choose what to learn, and learn accordingly to their capacity. Some people learn fast, some slow. My arabic vocabulary isn't very comprehensive. As a non arabic speaker I am including the words which I think are important.(Or important atleast to me) [Image: smile.gif]

If you add ال[/size:b2c6e0b5fe], it changes a common noun into a proper noun. For example

فرس = horse = faras (A Horse)

الفرس = Specific horse = alfaras (The horse)[/size:b2c6e0b5fe]

Perhaps some arabic speakers can further add to it, or point out any errors.

-- Ali

Bismillah Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim

Assalamualaikum,

I had prepared a LOT of things to say, however, unfortunately, I don’t have much time so I will try to make things short (!). I have 3 important things to say:

1) This is the first time for me to join a forum, I hardly even know how this thing works, so please be patient with me until I get the hang of it.

2) I had a really quick look at this section (for learning Arabic), seems very interesting & beneficial. I feel like I can do some good here, however once again my main problem is not being able to get as much time online as I would like :? !!

I will try to be as helpful as I can , inshAllah. If you should have anything specific you would like to ask about :arrow: please feel free to ask for anything you might need concerning Arabic.

And , oh :oops: , I’ve forgotten what the 3rd thing was!!!!

I hope that inshAllah I will be online more often, I will try to think of some useful Arabic words & phrases, and let me know what you need.

To avoid any possible misunderstandings (I hope to make some good friends through here, you see :wink: ) please note that I am female, and that’s all for now …

Praying that we – and all the Umma – will speak the fluent Arabic of the Quran in Al-Janna (Paradise) to each other I will end my message here & hope to hear some replies soon.

Thankyou.

Wa alaikum as-salaam, Muslimah [Image: biggrin.gif]

Thankyou for making me feel so welcome in this forum.

After a few rounds of pacing around the coffee table in the dining room I was surprised to have come up with quite a few ideas [Image: laugh.gif] !!

In sha Allah I will start typing & posting ASAP, for those interested in my next post, I am going to explain my system for writing Arabic pronunciation. I know that this can be very confusing, because almost anyone trying to write Arabic in English will have their own way!

Next time -inshAllah- I will display the spelling system I use, and I truly wish that it were standarized to make things a lot easier for learners!! I will also include ONE example maybe only a few more to see how things work out. I hope to receive some feedback to see whether I should continue using the same spelling rather than type loads then later on find out that no one can follow!!

It's not really very complicated, it's just that it has some numerals to represent some Arabic letters not found in the English language. I will take into consideration, with the help of Allah, that there are various levels of Arabic skills throughout the members of the forum.

And, oh, one last thing :oops: , please do forgive me for any mistakes concerning English, as it is not my native tongue. Also, that is one of the problems I think I will face : translating into English (esp Quranic verses & a[u:c755ab14dc]H[/u:c755ab14dc]aadeeth, so perhaps someone else can help by quoting & translating?!

I suppose this doesn't really make much sense since no one yet knows what I'm talking about! I will finish typing offline soon inshAllah and post for the "lessons" (!) to begin.

That's it. All the time I have for tonight [Image: smile.gif] .

Wa assalamu alaikum.

As Salam Alykom again

I don't want to be rushing things or making comments before seeing. But if u mean to use 3 instead of ayn and the like, I think BlueGene this will not help them pronounce the ayn correct, will it? What do u think. I think there are sites which has transliteration tables. I will look for one and coordinate. Unless u meant something else. Then I will wait and sorry for the premature comment :oops:
