The Veil
#11

Peace.....

Muslimah, as you well know, not everyone who writes an article or book can be considered an authority on orthodox christology. So in that regard I would question (as I'm sure you would if I were to post sites from supposed muslim sources) the doctrinal views of these sites to see if they indeed line up with scripture. I notice you made sure to mention these were "chrisitan" sites...according to whom? Simply because someone claims the title of "chrisitan" does not mean they hold to an orthodox chrisitan doctrine. (such is the case of the NOI. They claim Islam but are not considered muslims by the sunni ummah)

Now, as far as a woman having her head covered in the chrisitan church, there's a lot to be said about that. Suffice it to say for now that none of it has to do with her PHYSICALLY hiding her hair.....more on that later.

reepi, matter of fact if u read up will notice that I made a remark that this post was made by a member: Mutawwakil, so u might wait for him to come back and ask him what he meant by this sentence. Otherwise, I will delet it.

Shamms, to tell you the truth, if u ask me personally, usually I dont use this approach in explaining fundamentals of Islam. To be I observe women's dress code because Allah Commanded me to do so. BUt I tried to fill in the article brought by Wael in an effort to confirm it. Nuns cover, dont they?

A subject that never fades...

Veil is though interesting, at least from my part of view. Looking at Judaism, Christianity and Islam from this perspective.

Many Jewish women do cover to this day. Mostly those that are married. Some wear veil, some wear hats while others may wear wig.

Christian nuns wear veil. Some Catholic women or is it roman ortodox (here I need some help can't quite remember for now) wear it at least when going to church.

And of course the veil is prescribed for Muslim women as well.

So the veil is not a newcomer with the entrance of Islam. But today it may be mostly Muslim women that wear it?...

In Philippines till this day in Roman Catholic Church (my wife's former religion) many women do cover thier head and wear long gown before entering the church following the Biblical commands. and it was said to me that long time ago in Philippines women used to wear this kind of garments when they step out of thier homes. (please note that we are talking about country which 85% of its population is Catholic)

Therein lies the problem. The roman catholic church has long known to have mixed pagan practices with scriptural teaching....You can check out

The Two Babylons by Alexander Hislop

Freemasonry & The Vatican by Vicomte Leon DePoncins

and The Queen of All by Jim Tetlow, Roger Oakland, and Brad Myers

Just to name a few sources that show just how corrupt the catholic church is.
