sorry Wael, it seems that I got u wrong when u said that u agree with Suhail's opinion which included and stressed banning him. Although I shouldnt get u wrong on this specially, to tell u the truth i was suprised.
Well, I m sure u know what I meant when I said that we should not expect them to respect the Messenger salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam. IN this I m talking about a general condition, not exceptions. Of course there is also this book that rated him among top or even first (not sure) best men who had an impact on humanity.
When I made this comment I meant the general condition. I m sure u know what I mean.
Alhamdulelah, that we are able to discuss and explain more and even use the situation to show that Quran includes what CC and the like are saying.
And I agree with Nasra about this:
Reminds me of Abu Bakr, Uthman, Umar Ibn Al-Khatab, Khalid Ibn Walid.

O I forgot, so to settle this issuse, Dan, Nasra and Wael are against banning CC. I guess Suhail would have a different perspective now.

BTW CC, in this situation Alhamdulelah I applied the Shura principle instituted in Quran which was taught to us in practice by our beloved Messenger, leader and teacher Mohamed prayer and peace be upon him. :)

No not really i still want him banned ... but since the shura decided to keep him im ok with it. I do like him as a person but if he expresses his opinion of our prophet again then ill ban him myself. (yes muslimah i can ban him myself)

OK...since I am allowed to stay I'll stay. Democracy in action on IslamMessage! And they tell us that Muslims don't want democracy!

I think that the newspaper may have made those comments in light of the recent protests about a certain cartoon that was published in a Danish newspaper. I think that the Danish people didn't want widespread riots and reprisals so they would say anything to appease the Muslim population.
But I am sure that there are some non-Muslims who do think Mohammed was a great man...just not any Christians that I know of...

CC just an important correction, in this situation we applied Shura and not democracy.
In quran we are commanded to adopt Shura (counselling) to conduct our affairs as in:
"And those who answer the Call of their Lord [i.e. to believe that He is the only One Lord (Allah), and to worship none but Him Alone], and perform the prayer, and who (conduct) their affairs by mutual consultation, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them; " (Quran 42:38).
The Messenger prayer and peace be upon him instituted this principle - as u can see from Suhail's reaction - he realized that as long as Shura made this decision, regardless it was not my or his opinion, that we must agree.

I know I haven't been around in a while, but I have read the board from time to time and thought it appropriate to respond here. I can understand why the muslims would get upset at your words CC, while you don't hold him in esteem, the line was crossed when you refered to him as an evil man. I know if someone refered to Christ in that manner it would make my jaw clench as well. So it seems the concessus is, it's alright to interact, as long as negative opinions are kept to ourselves. I think that is an execellent rule to abide by.
CC, I understand what you mean about the circular discussions.
I'll continue to lurk and when I see something I feel I should add my input to....I will.
Wel Mel, I'd love to have a Biblical discussion with you, you seem very informed on the Bible...but a lil askew.
