Tell me if I am wrong....
#1

I've been here for a few months. I've learned a lot of Islam outside of what the media portrays. I wanted to kind of give a summary of what I've learned here. Please correct me where I am wrong if I am wrong and elaborate on any areas which need elaboration.

Theology-

1) Allah - Allah is the one God. Creator of everything. He is one in nature. He has sent many prophets to people on earth to reveal his will. Some prophets are known to us and some are not known.

2) Allah has sent in the past prophets to every group of peoples on earth. So even the eskimos have had a prophet from Allah.

3) Mohammed was Allah's final prophet.

4) The Quran, although produced by Mohammed, was actually written by Allah.

5) The biggest miracle and proof that Mohammed was a prophet from Allah is the Quran itself.

6) Muslims believe that the Quran is perfect, containing no error either scientific or historical.

7) Jesus - Muslims believe that Jesus was another prophet from Allah and not the Son of God and not God.

8) They believe that Jesus' teachings were twisted and that Jesus had no intention of being worshipped as God.

9) They believe in Jesus' virgin birth.

10) They believe that Jesus did not die on the cross, rather a look alike was killed instead and Jesus was laughing from the crowd watching the crucifiction of this other man.

11) Thus they do not believe in the resurrection of Christ. But they do believe that Jesus ascended into heaven and didn't suffer death on earth...yet. They believe he'll die on earth after his return.

12) They believe that parts of the bible are from Allah (God) and some parts are not from Allah. (I am not sure which parts though)

13) They believe that Mohammed was sinless as Christ was sinless. Meaning that they never committed intentional sin.

14) They believe that salvation comes from obeying the law of Allah as prescribed in the Quran and accpeted Haddiths.

15) The put their hope in salvation in the hands of Allah which they say is most mercifull.

16) They believe that Muslims who convert to Christianity or any other religion ought to be put to death.

Social -

1) Muslim men can have up to four wives. Mohammed had more than that but had special permission from Allah.

2) Muslims should dress modestly. Men with loose clothing which doesn't reveal body shape and women should cover their heads.

3) Muslims abstain from certain foods...such as wine and other drinks.

Other-

1) Haram is sin.

2) Fatwa is an opinion given by Muslim scholars. Fatwa's do not have to be followed. (as a side question, some Fatwa's are enforced by governments and punishable by death are they not? e.g. Men having beards in the Taliban regime?)

3) Haddiths are second only to the Quran in authority.

4) Haddiths were written by the people who lived in contact with Mohammed.

5) Mohammed died a physical death.

6) Jesus will come back some day. (what will he do when he returns?)

salam Curious,

Wow Mash aAllah, this is an excellent test to take.

Only few mistakes:

4) The Quran, <b>although produced by Mohammed, </b> was actually written by Allah.

Quran was Revealed from Allah to Mohamed prayer and peace be upon him thru the Arch Angle Gabriel. Just a brief extra. Logically enough, if Quran was produced by Mohamed prayer and peace be upon him , or he had anything to do with, this would make us Muslims worship him. Remember Curious, Quran contains what we have to do/ not do, how to worship, when to fast, why we fast, where to eat....etc. Thus, such rules and regulations must be coming only from The Only Deity Worth to be worshiped Allah. Mohamed prayer and peace be upon him was only the Messenger who conveyed the message. Ok

Fatwa is an opinion given by Muslim scholars. Fatwa's do not have to be followed. (as a side question, some Fatwa's are enforced by governments and punishable by death are they not? e.g. Men having beards in the Taliban regime?)

More on this point, Fatwas must be well supported by Quran and Hadeeth. I mean I cannt just wake up and say O I will issue a fatwa regarding so and so, unless Im a well versed scholar and basing my fatwa on Quran and hadeeth. I never heard that failure to enforce a fatwa is punishable by death.

(what will he do when he returns?)

He will kill Pseudo Messiah, rule by Islam and fill the world with good, Nasarah who are present at that time, will follow him on Islam.

"And there is none of the People of the Scripture, but must believe in him [Jesus, son of Mary, as only a Messenger of Allah and a human being], before his [Jesus alayhis-salaam or a Jew's or a Christian's] death (at the time of the appearance of the angel of death). And on the Day of Resurrection, he [Jesus] will be a witness against them." (Quran 4:159)

however, with all due respect to the translator may Allah Reward him, but the his death here is in reference to Jesus prayer and peace be upon him. It means that none of the people of the scripture that would believe in Jesus (Eassa) as a Prophet and Messenger when he returns to earth before his death.

Other wise, Curious you ve done excellent Mash aAllah.

Quick follow up? Whos hand penned the Quran? I remember reading somewhere that portions of the Quran were retrieved in Mohammed's home? His hand actually wrote down the words right?

The Ten Commandments were written on stone by God himself we read in Exodus. This isn't the same thing right?

Also...

Quote:He will kill Pseudo Messiah

Who is the Pseudo Messiah? Would it be Christ himself by your definition??? Who else would or could the Messiah be? And...do Muslims believe in a real "Messiah?"

Masha'Allah CC, you have really done very well. there are just 2 points i would like to comment on:

Quote:12) They believe that parts of the bible are from Allah (God) and some parts are not from Allah. (I am not sure which parts though)

As I mentioned in my previous discussions with you, that the Bible OF TODAY <b>may contain the word of God,</b> it also contains the <b>word of Prophets</b>, <b>word of historians</b>, and also it contains <b>some absurdities</b>. Any absurdity we do not attribute it to God Almighty. let me give you some examples of these 3 types:

1- WORD OF GOD:

<b>I
</b> will raise them up a prophet . . . and <b>I</b>
will put my words in ... and he shall speak unto them all that <b>I
</b> shall command him." (Deuteronomy 18:18)

<b>I</b>
even, <b>I am the Lord
, </b> and beside <b>me
</b> there is no saviour." (Isaiah 43:11)

"Look unto <b>me</b>,
and be ye saved, all the end of the earth: for <b>I am God
</b>, and there is non else." (Isaiah 45:22)

2- WORD OF PROPHETS:

"<b>Jesus </b>
cried with a loud voice, saying<b> Eli, Eli, lama sabachtani
</b>? . . ." (Matthew 27:46)

"And <b>Jesus answered him</b>,
The first of all the commandments is, <b>Hear, O Israel; the Lord our God is one Lord</b>
:" (Mark 12:29)

"And <b>Jesus said </b>
unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is God." (Mark 10:18).

As you can see anyone is able to affirm that: Jesus <b>"cried"</b> Jesus <b>"answered"</b> and Jesus <b>"said"</b> are the words of the one to whom they are attributed, i.e. the <b>WORDS OF A PROPHET OF GOD.</b>

3- WORD OF HISTORIANS:

"And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, <b>he</b>,
(JESUS) came, if haply <b>he
</b> (JESUS) might find anything thereon: and when <b>he</b>
(JESUS) came to it, (Jesus) found nothing but leaves . . ." (Mark 11:13)

The bulk of the Bible is a witnessing of this <b>THIRD</b> kind. These are the words of a third person. Note the underlined pronouns. They are not the Words of God or of His prophet, but the <b>WORDS OF A HISTORIAN.</b>

Quote:14) They believe that salvation comes from obeying the law of Allah as prescribed in the Quran and accpeted Haddiths.

There are basically 4 criteria of obtaining Salvation in Islam, and this is to be found in Chapter 103, it says:

“By time! Surely the human being is at loss. <b>Except</b>

<b>1- for those who have faith </b>

2- and do righteous deeds

3- and exhort one another to truth

4- and exhort one another to patience.”

A follow up to that...didn't a Haddith say that if one died in a holy war that they would be saved?

Quote:A follow up to that...didn't a Haddith say that if one died in a holy war that they would be saved?

Let me remind you that the term <b>“HOLY WAR”</b> not to be found <b>ANYWHERE in the Arabic text of the Qur’an or the authentic Hadiths of Prophet Muhammad pbuh. </b>

It is a misconception among both Muslims and Non Muslims that the word <b>Jihad means Holy War which is absolutely wrong. </b>

The Arabic word for Holy War is called as <b>HARBUN MUQADDASAH</b>, this word was never used by Allah in the Qur’an nor by His prophet in the authentic Hadiths.

The word used to describe WAR in the Qur’an and the authentic sayings of Prophet Muhammad pbuh is <b>QITAL or FIGHTING</b>, or <b>JIHAD which means to strive or struggle in the way of Allah. </b>

so if we apply chapter 103 to the concept of Jihad or fighting you will notice that:

a person will not go and fight in the way of Allah unless he <b>1- have faith
.</b>

a person is doing Jihad in the way of Allah is simultaneously doing <b>2- righteous deeds
</b>

a person would not fight in the way of Allah unless he have <b>3- exhorted people to truth and called them to Islam.
</b>

a person would not do not fight in the way of Allah unless he have <b>4- exhorted people to patience.
</b>

If a person fulfill those 4 conditions and died while fighting in the way of Allah, then he will insha'Allah attain Salvation.

and Allah knows best.

<i>8) They believe that Jesus' teachings were twisted and that Jesus had no intention of being worshipped as God.</i>

Yes!

this is because u will find even in the BIBLE that Jesus instructed his people to FOLLOW ONE GOD NOT THREE (as per Christian faith!)

Also another example is that in Old Testement or other versions in Bible there is NO AS "TRINITY"!!!! another proof that "trinity" is a word coined by the "church".

According to Sahih Hadith

"The most highest form of "Jihad" is taking care of sick and orphans!"

Besides "Jihad" is a word which has SOOO many aspects! Did u know that Jihad can be done through "pen" meaning defending ur faith through media and books, newpapers, journals

Jihad is also KEEPING AWAY FROM SINS!

Jihad is being obedient to Allah

hence the WESTERN mind washing of the word "Jihad" which they delibrately and wrongly call as 'terrorism" is such a laughable matter! It shows how the western world seem to focus on "propaganda" more than FACTS

Also....did u know that our Prophet Muhammad(saw) said DURING JIHAD IT IS NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO HARM A TREE OR CROPS! LET ALONE A SINGLE HUMAN BEING!

So u see Islam never support terrorism! Rather the "Muslim Extremists" r using ISLAM to make sure they keep on recruiting muslim men/women and gain sympathy and SUPPORT for terrorism from the Muslim world!!!!

hope this clears the confusion :)

Christians worship one God. You don't understand the nature of God.
