The renewal of my car license
#1

As Salam Alykom all

I don’t know why I felt like sharing this personal situation I went through last week. I went to renew my car lisence. For this I had to go to a traffic department other than the one I used to go to. Sobhan Allah, of course my country is relatively poor, I know this, I also know that most of the civil servants are terribly under paid to the extend that a fatwa was issued that they deserve zakkah. They do. But add to this the working conditions. La hawala wala qowata ila billah. I also already know this. But sometimes you see things that u know and get moved. The place is not nice, very hot, no A/C of course, merely ceiling fans, people look drained from the public pressure, transportation and more. I just thought to myself, and we are sitting Mash a Allah wa alhamdulelah in very nice working space, with much facilities, Mash a Allah, may Allah maintain His bounty. Yet we complain for the tiniest problem. We just must shut up. It conincided that my sister had to run a similar errand in another department. See they are all the same. But unfortunately she met the typical stereotype public servant who is very tired and impatient. I told her I just take their circumstances in consideration. She answered me very logically saying, but if they accept what Allah gave them, treat people well Allah shall give them a way out. I agree with her. Because the one Allah sent to process my documents, Sobhan Allah, really went out of his way to accomplish my task the easiest way could be. He took much time in order to explain to me. At the end I reminded him of the hadeeth that Allah Shall mitigate one suffering of the Day After for one who mitigates a suffering of his brother in this world. He said I know my lady, may Allah help us all. Sobhan Allah I made much dua for him.

May Allah sobhanhu wa ta`ala allow us all to observe Him in all what we do.

LOL The DVLA (uk motoring office) is exactly the same , the government even used taxpayers money to improve working conditions my putting more plants in the workspace and by providing mints. i doubt very much if it helped.

Sobhan Allah Curious and Suhail, I remember relating this situation to a Muslims American sister at that time and she exactly told me the same. la hawla wala qowata ila billah and Praise be to Allah for what we really have.

I do feel sorry for people working in those kind of places. Not just government offices, but in banks and anywhere else where they deal with disgruntled/confused customers.

I always try to be polite when calling people like that, they are people after all, and normally the person your talking to had nothing to do with the problem, but they get the flack. Besides, if your polite they're more likely to be helpful.

The only time I get annoyed is when they treat you like an idiot, telling you they can't do such and such, when you know full well they can.

Im collecting my Drivers renewal this weeknd Inshallah, in my country theres ques everywhere …. It took me 2.5 hours standing in a que to get fingerprints done.

I went to the Traffic Dept to pay a speeding fine of 30 Pounds (300 South African Rands) only to be told I CANT.

I have to pay the magistrate court another 30 pounds (late payment for not appearing in court.) Before they can clear the fine.

I feel for Civil servants – and yea we must all make shukar, as Rizq/Rozi or sustenance has been decreed before we were born.

Call centre agents – I worked in CC for 2 yrs so I don’t give em slack

Now im @ a bank,– and know inside out of customer service, n if People giv me bad service I let em have it, or cuss out silently.

You had to go in ro renew it?

I did mine by post. Slip the form, old licence and photo into an envelope and post it off to the DVLA in Cardiff. Sorted.
