Hot, and camels. Sorry, but thats pretty much all my Grandad said of the place. Then again 1940 wasn't such a good time to be there :(

It has to be said I would love to see the pyramids there, but given the current world climate i think thats unlikely

salam everyone

Sorry shereen for taking long to reply

Hot yes, in summer, it gets very hot during June, July, Aug.

Camels :hawla: :wavey: this makes me really laugh as people still think that for instance I ride a camel to work and tie him down till I m done.

Well no I drive a Matiz to work, camels are only in Pyramids for tourists to ride, u might see them in streets when they are walking in troups going to be slaughtered.

Still we have donkey and horse driven carts in the streets used as means of tranportation for vegetable and other.

But Egypt is just like any other country has rural and urban areas with the regular differences.

More questions, I m willing to answer......

as salam alykom shereen

Of course there are people from other countries who come and live here for different purposes, like ex pats who get contracted with multi national companies. But I doubt that there are people who come here for Hijra (immigration) as the economic position is not like the Gulf area. however, still reverts do put Egypt on their list of Hijra countries.

Yes there are Pakistanis and Indians, there are also those from Bahra sect, u know.

There are international schools to cater for those groups, international Pakistani, Indonesian ..etc.

As for the language, we speak arabic but of course not Fusah, we speak the colloquial Egyptian, which is well understood among other Arab countries (unlike the Tunisian or Maroacan for ex.) because of the TV material. Egypt is very active in TV production which is much exported all over the Arab region. That is why they do understand our dialect. But this dialect is getting changed due to youth newly innovated vocabulary they keep adding which me myself is unable to cope with leave alone use. Thus it is not an accent it is a colloquial language.

As for the favorite drink, Egyptians like tea, black tea, mostly they also drink it with much sugar.

Ok that is all for now, what else do u have in mind or anyone else. You are all most welcome.

More about the favourite drink, besides black tea, Egyptians drink a kind of coffee called turkish coffee that requires a special type of ground coffee mixed with Cardomon seeds. The coffee ground is very soft and not processed like instant of filter coffee.

Those are the two main favourite drinks for Egyptians.

waiting for more questions..

and do u eat it often or in special occasions?

also..lol...wid butter and honey..the recipe sounds like a ticket to weight increase ;) and can u 'not' use butter and honey and instead add something else for sweetness? :)
