Peace be with you Malik,

We Muslims believe in all the messengers peace be upon them, and the books of Allah. If we deny only one of them we will not be Muslims. But one thing you should know, We do believe in the Bible that was revealed from God to Prophet Jesus peace be upon him. But the Bible has been distorted. Now we could find many different copies of the Bible written by different persons adding and deleting whatever they want. So it is not the authentic Bible that was revealed by God to Jesus. The Holy Qur'an, however, wherever you search in the whole world you will find only and only one same copy unchanged and unable to be changed. It is impossible to be changed because Allah preserves it and will preserve it forever since it is the last Holy Book revealed by Allah to the seal of Prophets Mohammad peace be upon him in order to save the whole humanity and call them to Islam, the last religion on this earth (The religion of total submission to one God, Allah, our dear Creator).

As my sisters, Muslimah and Jennifer clarified to you, we are not ordered to fight the others. We fight the others only when they fight us, and this is very logical. Is it supposed that we, Muslims, must cross our hands and sit watching while the others are killing us and fighting us? Is that logical? Our Religion Islam is a religion of peace and it is the first thing we do think of. Whereas war is the last thing we do think of.

Please Malik feel free to ask any other questions. We are all here to help each other and cooperate together to come up with the truth.

Peace

Ahlam

Welcome Malik. That's great that you have questions about Islam. And I know what you mean about Islam being the one and only true religion. Anyone learning about any religion would ask how the believers know this is the true one in the eyes of God. But Islam is. I know all the members of the boards will help you get your answers. I, myself, have learned TONS from them in my stay here. I'm not good enough to quote verses from the Qu'ran off the top of my head or have Hadiths *(sayings of the Prophet)* ready in a beat, but I'd be happy to help if I can. I know you will get your questions answered here, and someday I hope I can reach the level of my Brothers and Sisters on this board.

That's cool that you're from Brazil. I had to do a report on it once, but I don't remember anything. Sorry, no offense to your country it was just a LONG time ago! And not that good of a report on my part!! [Image: biggrin.gif]

Assalamualkum wa rahamatullahi wa barakatahu Malik,

Quote:my question today why in Islam man can marry 4 women ?[/quote:6349eb039e]How are u brother Malik? How is it there in Holland? I heard Holland is famous for its windmills, did u see a lot of them around? You asked a great question brother Malik, for one thing i know that women live longer and men die at a younger age then most women. If u have ever seen a demographic pyramid, then you'll see that women actully live longer in just about every society imaginable! Did u know that only 5% of animals speices are monogamos, no doubt we too are animals...well intellegent animals [Image: biggrin.gif] .

That will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice." (Qur'an 4:3)[/quote:6349eb039e]This is only a part of what the Quran says on this topic, no doubt there are more, maybe some of the other brothers and sisters on this site might be able to provide you with other lines from the Quran.

This is a good article on this subject

Did u know that the some of the prophets (peace be upon them) in the NT had polygamos marriages? Well thats it for now, take care brother Malik, it is truely unique to find some one so curious about the world that he/she lives in. Salam.

Hi Malik,

Actually the Bible does not specify at all how many wives a husband may take. You can still find some Christian sects such as the mormons to this day who have multiple wives. I read about one mormon man about a month ago in Salt Lake City who has 14 wives! The Bible never really laid down the limits or guidelines for this aspect of life.

The final guidelines came through the Quran and by the example of Prophet Muhammad who set the standard for [u:459dd1b595]both[/u:459dd1b595] a monogamous marriage; and after the death of his first wife of 15 years, set the standard for a polygamous marriage.

Many Prophets, as AhmedSyed pointed out, had more than one wife. Among them are Moses, Abraham, and Noah, and Jacob. I only say this reminder because sometimes people think only Prophet Muhammad had more than one.

By the way I wanted to tell you my Grandmother once visited Holland when I was a little girl. She brought me back a pair of beautiful wooden shoes. She said it was very beautiful in your country.
