Asalamalaikum
As part of my "Marketing group tours" class our class has to go on a 2 weeks trip to the north-Island. I don't want to go on the trip becuase I don't want to be in an non-muslim atmosphere for 2 weeks. We'll be staying at a hotel & and we get to some of the greatest sightseeings of the northIsland. My teacher has been telling me that its very important that I go.
so here is my question:
Can a Muslimah travel without a mahram for 2 weeks?
another thing that I just found out is for me to fully gain 100% competency= a pass in this class. There is a huge assignment (I can do that in my own time) and an "educational-Report assessment" which is part of the field-trip.
If I dont go on that field-trip there is no way I can do the "educational report" and that is part of the criteria that I need to meet for my major.
InshaAllah all nasseeha is welcomed

Asalamalaikum muslimah JZK for the response
I know that a woman is not supposed to be travelling on a journey that lasts more than 3 nights without a mahram (correct me if I am wrong please). The journey our class will take is going to be less than 24-hours *in travelling time* the stay at the destination is 2 weeks. I don’t think that’s going to make any difference though since it still falls under the category of not travelling without a mahram.
I actually did discuss this with my hubby. He's Not too Enthusiastic & so are all of my other mahrams. If it all would come down to me I would still not be 100% happy to go. I would be sharing rooms with non-muslim Girls. I can’t be comfortable knowing that I have to keep my hijabs on 24/7 each day for an entire 2 weeks. I would easily suffocate from all the discomfort
I started this thread & asked the question for educational purposes that I want to understand InshaAllah. I read the hadith that says "a woman can’t travel without a mahram for a journey that takes more than 3 nights’" Does that mean its permissible for a woman to travel as long she doesn’t exceed the length of 3 nights? Does the 3 nights also include the time of stay spend at the destination? Or is that only for the amount of days/nights she’ll spend travelling to the destination?
(Sorry) My paranoia for the 3 nights is running wild
Looking forward to your answer Muslimah

O i didnt know that u already made a decision and u r just making the thread for educational purposes. But I asked a scholar and gave him full detail about the education part and report u have to give. He said u may go.
And i am not sure the 3 night thing whether it refers to the duration of journey or stay I might refer back to him.
Because initially I put the question based on your circumstances and not a general question.

Salam
JZK muslimah for finding that out for me. I was a bit confused about the 3 days.
I spoke to the head of my Uni I can come back within 5 days and still complete everything that is required of me. No 2 weeks for me Alhamdulilah. Yey!
I'm leaving next sunday.........
I really wish I wasn't going
Insha'Allah I will take heaps of pictures of the North Island and show you all when I get back.
