Da'wah

Assalamu Alalikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh

All my brothers and sisters at this forum whom i love so much even if some of you don't love meee! These forums are like a little family to me, i love them love the character and the people please all of you never leave. Had to get that corny moment off of my chest, i am sorry this is how i feel. [Image: wub.gif]

Ok on to the point of this post Da'wah i would like the more expierienced members to give tips to a new Muslim on the best way to give Da'wah. I now know much more about Islam then i did to begin with. I've read a large amount of books (something like 50+) books on Islam all recommended to me by Imams and good brothers. I try to learn from posts here, and i'm always asking for advice so even though the hill is still enourmously high, I feel confident enough to want to approach people to show them the light of Islam even though i only know so little, surely there is some kind of Da'wah i can do.

I would just like some of the more senior members to give me some advice. Or even books or website links on the subject of Da'wah. Some people tell me to start with the Muslims first, on some of the brothers who may need help getting back on the path, but sometimes i feel patronising doing this because i'm still a new Muslim. Others say speak with other faiths, so far i've only spoke with Christians but i can't seem to get through to them. I'm not sure of the approach. I think i could start with Atheists Agnostics because i was one myself but even so, techniques, etiquette and advice would be appreciated Qur'an and Sunnah quotes obviously too if anyone can help. So...

. Advice on calling others for a new Muslim

. Suggested books to read or website links

. Techniques and manners

Assalamu aleikum,

So you have taken some weight off your chest - let me take some more off - I am sure you are WRONG, we all feel like a Muslim family here, and YOU are one of our 'baby' brothers. And the Islamic way is to feel love and respect for your family - right? So as your sister I do it the way Islam tells me I can, with respectful words.

Sorry for still calling you 'baby' - but you are insha'Allah growing fast [Image: rolleyes.gif] Insha'Allah just continue on the Straight Path, you will be just fine masha'Allah - you have the best Protector with you.

Da'wah is very important - and of course the best way is to live like you learn.

But don't expect to be fully 'trained' at once, since we are all pupils, and has to take it bit by bit, according to our ability. Our intention and will is though very valuable, insha'Allah.

I found this site, anyway something to read and consider.

As Salam alaikum

I have been in the same place that you are in, bro. How can people refuse to drink from something so sweet if only they would open their minds?

I will relate to you my own personal experiences and Insha'Allah they will be of some help. I try to remember how Islam spread to Indonesia, by example. People usually will ask me about Islam the more that they get to know me. I try not to be shy about talking about my faith in front of nonmuslims. Many times we, as an ummah, tend to say God instead of Allah when talking to nonmuslims. If we use the word Allah, at least they might ask more questions. "What does Allah mean?" etc.

If I don't broach the topic myself, then people do not feel defensive or preached at when Islam does come up. If I am fasting during Ramadan, I make it pretty apparent so others may ask me about it.

I don't know if this has helped but Insha'Allah it has.

As Salam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu

Bismillah,

Just some reminders from the Qur'an about the subject,

"Invite to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided."
Quran, an-Nahl: 125

"And who is better in speech than he who (says: 'My Lord is Allah (believes in His Oneness),' and then stands straight (acts upon His Order), and) invites (men) to Allah (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds, and says: 'I am one of the Muslims.'"
Quran, Fussilat: 33
