<b>Allah is my guidance and saviour</b>

In Islam sister a man should be very merciful and tolerant with his wife, he should also help her with her home duties and not leave her to do everything alone, our beloved Prophet used to help his wives in cleaning and even in kneading dow and cooking, so are the men of these days better than him, they should follow his role. [Image: smile.gif] (MPBUH)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The best among you are those who treat their wives in the best manner." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 217

In this hadith he encourages muslim men to treat their wives in the best manner, and not to be harsh to them so Allah will be pleased with them, and also women should obey their husbands and pleases him in every way, by dressing nicely for him not going out without his permission, and so on [Image: smile.gif]

Another hadith

Narrated Aisha - "(The Prophet Muhammad) never beat anyone with his hand, neither a woman nor a servant." - Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1082

This is our beloved teacher who teaches us mercy and love to women and servants, he never beat a woman or a searvant, and the aya in The Holy Quran were it orders to beat women if they disobey, the prophet translated that by not being harsh or break a bone, just a slight push to waken her up from her bad doing and that will be the last resort.

also

Bismillah AL-Rahman Al-Raheem:

O you who have attained to faith! (You you have become Muslims!) It is not lawful for you to [try to] become heirs to your wives [by holding onto them] against their will; and neither shall you keep them under constraint (force or enslave them) with a view to taking away anything of what you may have given them, unless it be that they have become guilty, in an obvious manner, of immoral conduct. And consort with (communicate with, be together with) your wives in a goodly manner; for if you dislike them, it may well be that you dislike something which God might yet make a source of abundant good. (Qur'an, 4:19)

In praise of the religious woman:

The Prophet said, "A woman is married for four things, i.e., her wealth, her family status, her beauty and her religion. So you should marry the religious woman (otherwise) you will be a loser." Volume 7, Book 62, Number 27: Narrated Abu Huraira.

The Prophet ordered men to marry relegious women, becasue a relegious woman will listen to every order given from Allah(SWT), and from these orders is that she is not to travel for long distances without a mahram unless he(her husband) has made arrangements for her as with whom should she travel and who is she going to receive her at airport and who is she going to stay with, like nowadays if u travel in a plane a plane is a safe way to travel he will take u to the airport and in the other country there will be a relative to greet u there who is a mahram. and Allah(SWS) knows best.

As for Hajj for those who do not have mahram they will allow her to go but only once and not more than that and she must go with a trusted group of relegious people and not alone.

Volume 7, Book 62, Number 120:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet said, "A woman should not fast (optional fasts) except with her husband's permission if he is at home (staying with her)."

If a woman has fard days to fast she should not ask his permission becasue that is order form Allah Subhanahu Wa T'ala. But then if she wants to fast optional days, she is not allowed unless after her husband's permission. Some will say oh see how a woman is treated she has no free will, but little do they know that this is best for her and her husband, this will nourish a respectful relation between both man and woman, as them being 2 persons merged into one sharing everything in the life they chose to share together, and not being apart each living his own life no one knows nothing about the other until it turns life into hell. And every1 should know that a man should also take permission from his wife if he wants to fast optional days, he must not disregard her opinion or needs just as he asks the same from her.

Volume 7, Book 62, Number 123:

Another Hadith Narrated by Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle said, "It is not lawful for a lady to fast (Nawafil) without the permission of her husband when he is at home; and she should not allow anyone to enter his house except with his permission; and if she spends of his wealth (on charitable purposes) without being ordered by him, he will get half of the reward."

This is a little information I put for now I will gather more for u sister and tell me if this is enough or u need more. And I am sure that my other sisters and brothers will help with this also. [Image: smile.gif]. And Allah Subhanahu Wa T'ala knows best. If I am right from Allah if I am wrong from my ignorance and mistake.

Mashallah sister sally! Congrats! [Image: biggrin.gif] You are a role model for me You seem so courageous and strong willed to make such a good decision May Allah (swt) guide us all and help us to preserve modesty on the face of this Earth..Ameen

InshaAllah make dua for me I will be joining you soon InshaAllah. I just want to get my studies out of my way first.

Radiyah

MaShaAllah you have pretty much summed that up quite well.

The prophet salaLahu Alai wasalm had such beautiful qualities, he was so gentle, kind, loving and yet honest towards his wives. May Allah help the muslim men of this ummah get those priceless qualities.

I see Radiyah has posted a couple of hadeeth, i'm going to add a couple about marriage etc [Image: wink.gif]

<b>Mu'adh bin Jabal (Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has said:</b>

<b>"It is not permitted for a woman who believes in Allah to admit a man into her house whose visit is not approved of by her husband or that she should go out of the house against the will of her husband or she should obey the will of someone else in opposition to her husband's wishes."
</b>

<b>The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has said:</b>

" The woman who dies in a state that her husband was in agreement with her, will certainly go to Paradise." (Tirmidhi)

In order to indicate the most reverend, esteemed, honorable and glorious position a husband has in the life of a wife, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has observed:

<b>" It is forbidden for a human being to lay in prostration before another human. Had it been permissible, every wife would have been ordained by Allah to prostrate before her husband. The husband enjoys such a supreme status that if his whole body is covered with wounds and the wife licks them all with her tongue, the right of her husband is even then not fulfilled in full measure." </b>

SubhanaAllah.

<b>It is narrated by Anas that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, </b>

<b>"When a man marries, he has fulfilled half of his religion, so let him fear Allah regarding the remaining half." </b>

<i><b>Once Aqra bin Babis ( Allah be please with him) visited the Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was then engaged in caressing Hasan ( Allah be pleased with him). Being surprised at this act, Aqra Submitted:</b></i>

<b>" O Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ! Do you also caress children, I have ten children but I have never fondled even one of them."</b>

Thereupon the Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) raised his eyes and remarked with a look at Aqra:

" If Allah has taken mercy and kindness out of your heart, what can I do?" (Abu Dawud)

voila

As Salam alykom

Mash a Allah very nice idea to tackle the subject of marriage in this way

Do u all allow me to split the thread and take the marriage part to a new thread. It really is worth an indepandant thread so that when a member comes in looking, it will be easier to locate the info.

I just dont want to do it immediately, Sally just keep this in mind I will split it ok

Mash aAllah I see that Radiyah and Intuition gave excellent input. But let me take part here, I love to.

How Allah Describes the husband / wife relation in Quran is amazing:

"It is made lawful for you to have sexual relations with your wives on the night of As-Saum (the fasts). <b>They are Libas [i.e. body cover, or screen, (i.e. you enjoy the pleasure of living with her), for you and you are the same for them</b>" (Quran 2:187)

Just ponder on the underlined part. In Arabic the word used which is libas is literally a garment. How does the garment serve the human being either male or female? It protects againt weather changes, unnecessary looks, covers the A`wara (parts of body that must not be revealed), ..etc.

Allah Used a word that is so meaningful in identifying the husband / wife relation. If the couple keeps this in mind, things would be much different. Each one of the couple is supposed to protect the other. Even protecting against revealing bad qualities or mistakes, sins or faulty behavious, for noone is perfect. A garment also covers secrets, private issue, personal matters, Sobhan Allah Allah Used just one word to convey a very deep and special meaning.

I know that originally u asked about a husband's duty, but just take this one too.

On another Ayah Allah Say:

"And among His Signs is this, <b>that He created for you wives from among yourselves, that you may find repose in them</b>, and He has put between you affection and mercy. Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who reflect" (Quran 30:21)

As for the underlined part, the Arabic word here is leskunu which is derived from the word sakan. The word Sakan means a residence, a place where one lives, but also a place where one may find tranquility. Tanskunu is to find tranquility. Just imagine how Allah Describes the role of a wife. I can go on but enough for now.

Sally Mash a Allah u r wearing niqab now Mash aAllah may Allah protect u and makes it easy for u ameen
