Question, Is there a generally recognised translation of the Quran that is agreed by muslim scholars and muslims alike, to be the most accurate?

I actually get asked which translation I prefer by arabic speaking brothers. It is funny to me. I guess it comes down to preference because the only one that is really the best is the arabic one. I hear the Yusuf Ali version is the most liked. I have it and one by Dr. Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din Al Hilali and Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan which is put out by Saudi Arabia. I currently read both. I find that using more than one translation leads to having a deeper understanding of what is actually being said in arabic.

Yes thats why i'm currently learning classical Arabic brother, for the sole intention of reading Quran in the true tongue. I just wondered what the generally recognised best translation is, but your idea of reading two translations is a good one. Anyone else? Which according to anyone else is the best translation?

Alhamdulelah much really much for being a native arabic speaker, I must say that communicating with reverts for the past about 6 years made me so much aware of this that currently I always tell my people if one is passing a trial from Allah, it is enough we speak Arabic and can read the Quran.


Anya let me shed light on this issue. Al Azhar (which is a well distinguished masjed and Islamic intitution in Egypt including university and more) authenticated Yusuf Ali, also the Superme Counci for Islamic Affairs published an excellent translation.


Now as far as Saudi Arabia they also authintcated Yusuf Ali.


I still stand with the site I recommended for u earlier. I still find myself when I use Yusuf Ali that I need to add my own comments for further clarification in many positions. In some Ayhas his unawareness of the Arabic languages fails to give the exact meaning. Insh a Allah when I come accross an example will let u know.
