Woman n career
#1

As we know, to seek for knowledge is n important thing in a life of a human being. From learning to say the word mama to cooking to being a rocket scientist.

In our religion, seeking for knowledge is important as there is a saying “seek for knowledge even if it takes you to China”. In fact it is a must to be respected and to lead a better life in this world without boundaries and to lead a better life in the hereafter.

Nowadays, we see women seeking for knowledge and building a career and the world respect these women.

How do these women actually have times for both their family and for their career?

My ambition is to be a doctor or work with the medical team. And I know that this is a very demanding job. I also have a dream to build a happy family with at least 2 children and a beloved husband.

How can a woman be a good wife to her husband, be a role model parents for her children and build a career at the same time? :?:

I’m 18 and next month, insyaAllah,I’ll be going to one of the local universities in my country. In the mean time I spend a lot of time thinking about my future….

Will I be a good person?will I be able to pursue my ambition and at the same time make my dreams come true?

Indeed seeking knowledge is important and the prophet(pbuh) said:“seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every muslim” ,narrated by Ibn Maajah. However we must notice that knowledge is of different categories ,first there is the knowledge that is enough to sustain the religious beliefs and the obligatory practices ie: tawheed ,salah ,etc this is obligatory upon every muslim to seek. Secondly there is advanced religious knowledge ie: scholars knowledge. Thirdly there is the scientific knowledge like medicine, technology, engineering, etc however for this category and the second one it’s not an obligation on every muslim but a few can meet the demand of those categories and there is no burden then on the muslim community as long as the demand of the muslims is met.

No doubt a muslim women must not neglect seeking knowledge but at the same time she must remember to fulfill her obligation towards her husband and family ,thus a women should make a balance between the two duties. I must stress on the point that a women does not have to seek knowledge so as to get a job in her future but seeking knowledge should be a mean for her to broaden her mind ,to improve her way of thinking and practicing things in life. And one of the greatest proofs and best of examples is Ayisha(RA) she used to teach the Sahabbah from behind the hijab the rules of the Islamic religion. Furthermore a women’s place is inside her house for she is a mistress in her house , I wonder why when a non-believing women stays at her house and fulfills her duty towards her family and runs her house she is an ideal mother who sacrificed her job ,chances ,etc but when a muslim women does the same duties which her religion commanded her to do she is oppressed she needs to be liberated and all the nonsense some keep on saying??!!!. Moreover a muslim women can work if she needs or if the muslim community requires it from her ,for example today we need female muslim doctors ,teachers ,nurses , daa’yahs . However if a women is going to work then it must be within the limits and boundaries of what islam allowed ,she should not go out Mutabarrijah but she should observe correct Hijab ,she should not mix with men. But if a women can work it does not mean she can go into fields that are in general for men and compete with them this is not acceptable at all, ie: working in the fighting ranks of the army.

In the light of the above I conclude a muslim women must seek knowledge but getting a job must not always be her goal. Also her family should be one of her top priorites of course after fulfilling all her Fard religious duties.Morover it's not as if a women inside her house will not be working ,she will be working indeed and a very hard work that needs time and dedication for she will be raising the leaders and scholars of our future Ummah.

May Allah guide us and all muslims and save us from the hell fire.

I have a few comments to add first:

"seek knowledge even if you have to go as far as china ,for seeking knowledge is a duty on every muslim"

Shaykh al-Albaani(may Allah have mercy on him) said this hadith is fabricated.

"Will I be a good person?will I be able to pursue my ambition and at the same time make my dreams come true?"

In the Quran it says:

Say: "I have no power over any good or harm to myself except as Allah willeth. If I had knowledge of the unseen, I should have multiplied all good, and no evil should have touched me: I am but a warner, and a bringer of glad tidings to those who have faith." Surah Al-aa'raf verse 188

Sister nobody can answer your question only Allah knows the future ,we don't even know what will happen in the next few minutes if we will live or die only Allah knows that. However you can work hard to achieve your dreams and ambitions and inshallah whatever is good for you will happen, and always pray and make Duaa' to Allah (swt).

"How do these women actually have times for both their family and for their career?"

The question that arises to my do mind do they actually have time for both in reality???, we see some hard working women but we don't know what is really going on in their lives!!.Also I think it really depends on the nature of the work the women is doing ,some jobs even if the women tried she will find it difficult to make time for both her family and work. Moreover many times the children of some working women suffer alot ,the suffering does not have to be fiancially but it can be emotionally and sometimes physically!.

We are muslims and islam is our way of life and we should follow its guidelines .

Mash a Allah sister Amira

In a few words, sister just see what will you be accountable before Allah for. He will not judge you if you were an excellent doctor or head of department. However, He will see how good of a wife and mother you were. And don't underestimate this job. I have a hadeeth, I will look for it, which will actually make you feel how important your household duties are.
