What is expected of women and men as a muslim in usa? How are the childern expected to behave? As you might know USA childern are pretty wild and don't listen to their parents well. How are your elders treated? I been doing so much reading my eyes hurt. But i will share one thing with you it is a secret. hahaha i never saw such love for God in my life. I will start to read the Quran and find out what all the religious/spiritual beliefs and practices are. I am glad i found this islam message board it is opening my eyes towards God.This is great i am so happy. and thankyou for your reponse.

the sharia of islam is in the hearts of the believers

we are to act like muslims, no matter where we are

everything that is within our power to do is incumbent upon us

things that are beyond our power, is not our fault

but we dont know how high we can reach unless we jump as high as we can

seems like although Im an arab not living in the US I still give reply for I have many relatives who live there.

As for children, they are raised according to Islamic teaching, as AbuMubarak said, we have to be Muslims whereever we are. Children are taught that they are Muslims and thus they receive relevant teachings. BTW faith in Islam consists of 73 parts one of them is to respect the elder.

Hello Athena

From my childhood Islamic education, we were thaught that heaven lies under the mothers feet and that the father holds the keys to heaven. This alone tells me that the status of our parents is very high. As for the elders or anyone for that mattery must be respected at all times, even if they are not muslims. The Christian have a saying "Do unto others what you would have done unto you." So you see respect "should be" a general rule amongst humans.

People can be wild in any country and any place. It is the upbringing of the child that matters. If adults teach the children good values and morals and give them a strong foundation be it Islamic or any other religion, then they will turn out to be good humanbeings. And then the conversion to Islam will not be so difficult since Islam is an easy religion to practice. Islam is a way of life that is practical and sensible.

I can understand that there is alot of peer pressure and other types of pressure where ever we are that makes it difficult for some people to do the right things. That is why Islam is so beautifull you can do everything that Islam belief requires without affecting or harming anybody around you. In fact you could practice Islam without anybody knowing that you are a muslim. You could practice it privately. Since Islam is about YOU and YOUR CREATOR.

I agree with the part that USA kids are very rude & think that being rude towards the elders is actually 'cool' and trendy.......and ALL swearing & drinking is 'cool'.....and we learn to respect the elders & keep away from the 'bad' things in life......and yeah 'religion' is very important to us [Image: smile.gif]

Islam is NOT a religion it's a WAY OF LIFE [Image: smile.gif]

Allahu Akbar. Islam is the greatest thing that can happen to a person in my opinion as a U.K. male. I'm much more kind to people, i think of others before myself a lot more, and i feel fresh inside everyday knowing i'm now amongst the millions worldwide with that personal link to Allah. I feel we're all a team, all brothers and sisters, all one whole. Isn't that perfect for life? I dream of the day when everyone will follow.

But yes it's made me more patient, and more excited to live. To live serving Allah is the answer to the question most westerners have as to whats the meaning of life. Once you realise this, you can live...move on and live as a Muslim. And all the questions are gone because Allah answers everything. I thank Allah because finding Islam is also going to make me the best father for my daughter as she grows. She's only 10 months so she won't really know the old daddy. She'll only know this better behaved and more patient dad.

Any problems i have i pray hard and ask Allah, and eventually deep inside, you feel warmth and a hard confirmation telling you what to do. Allah helps all, and i'm glad i can now live. Life is still tough, but it's a lot more easier to approach life with Allah beside me. It's all a test, we're not here long...and those of us who are picked like i was, are eternally grateful to Allah.

And to think i was Agnostic, even Athiest at one point.
