My Journey To Islam
#1

Assalamu Alaikum

I'm a 22yo Aussie guy who converted/reverted to Islam only 2 months ago now. I come from a non religious background although as a teen I occasionally went to Christian church to see friends who were Christians. I'd never taken any interest in other religions as I assumed Christianity was the right religion...although I didnt really practise it! Recent events in the media brought about my awareness of Islam, I still didnt have a clue what it was then either, you never see Islam being portrayed as good in the media. About a year ago I had made a new friend of Middle Eastern background, the first thing I asked was wether he was a Muslim, he was, although he doesn't really practise it. I asked a lot of questions, but couldn't get the answers I wanted...He didn't want me to think he was preaching. I ended up studying books and started reading an interpretation of the Qu'ran, in which my friend had lent to me.

I looked up sites on the net and found out about the scientific proofs of the Qu'ran which first put belief into my heart. All I can say really is I admired everything about Islam, from Economics, Modesty, Zakat which helps the poor and needy, the Oneness of Allah, the Messenger(saws), the Qur'an from which I could find no flaws, the reasons behind Fasting and much much more! It was exactly the guidance and way of life I always craved.

I fell in love with Islam and I ended up teaching my friend about his religion! I didn't tell him, but I knew I would become a Muslim, but when? I asked my friend to take me to the Mosque each week so I could see what it was like, he never went himself and was hesitant in taking me there, after 6 months my wish was fulfilled and we went. That day I uttered my Shadahah that Friday at the Mosque in front of the 30 or so who were there and I haven't looked back. It took 5 weeks to learn how to perform Salat by memory and not reading off paper in front of me!!

My family are supportive, especially my mother, Alhumdulillah. She's thinks it's a load of crap but is happy to see me happy! I used to be down a lot and now I'm always smiling! At first she didn't believe me when I said I converted, but she was expecting it as she already knew I was reading Qu'ran and books about Islam. I admit I have lost some friends...but I made new friends Alhumdulillah who inspire me and I inspire them!

I hope anyone who is thinking of reverting who reads this may benefit from this testimony. Feel free to ask any questions if you like and I hope I can answer inshAllah.

PS. If you feel you are called to Islam, answer that call...because you never know when it is your time to go. Alhamdulillah I answered that call and I know I will die a Muslim.

As-salaam aleykum brother,

al'hamdullillah that Allah, swt has guided you to His Path.

Life in non-Muslim countries is not always so easy, (as a revert not always so easy in a Muslim country either) but now that you have the best guidance there is, Allah, swt, He is the on that you will turn to, to help you get through the trials that may come.

On this web-site there are also brothers and sisters to turn to, subhana'allah.

Welcome to the Muslim Ummah,
