You say that it is the duty of muslims to boycott American products because the USA has troops in Afghanistan. But perhaps you don't realize that many other countries have troops in Afghanistan, too.

There are, for example, over 2200 Canadian combat troops currently stationed in Afghanistan. In fact, the vast majority of these troops are from my home town of Edmonton, Alberta.

Edmonton based military units which are currently deployed in Afghanistan include: the 1st Canadian Mechanized Brigade, the 1st General Support Battalion, the 1st Service Battalion, the 1st Combat Engineer Regiment, the 1st Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, the 1st Field Ambulance, and the 408th Tactical Helicopter Squadron. These troops are in Afghanistan to capture and kill members of the Taliban. So, if being against the taliban is a crime, then it is a crime that Canada is certainly guilty of.

Since deploying in February, Canadian casualties have included 8 killed in combat, 25 wounded in combat, and 13 injured in non-combat related accidents. But I assure you that the casualties Canadians have inflicted upon the taliban have been many times greater than that.

Canadian soldiers are in Afghanistan as part of a NATO force known as ISAF (International Security Assistance Force). NATO countries which currently have soldiers stationed in Afghanistan include:

Albania

Austria

Azerbaijan

Belgium

Bulgaria

Canada

Croatia

Czech Republic

Denmark

Estonia

Finland

France

Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia*

Germany

Greece

Hungary

Iceland

Ireland

Italy

Latvia

Lithuania

Luxembourg

Netherlands

New Zealand

Norway

Poland

Portugal

Romania

Slovakia

Slovenia

Spain

Sweden

Switzerland

Turkey

United Kingdom

United States of America

So, if Muslims are boycotting American products because the USA has troops stationed in Afghanistan, then obviously Muslims must also boycott the products from the above 35 other countries, too. And please note that three of the countries on the above list (Turkey, Albania, and Azerbaijan) are countries with Muslim majorities.

I assume I need not explain to any of you how unspeakably evil the Taliban are? No rational person would defend the actions of the Taliban. All decent Muslims should be pleased and appreciative that NATO soldiers are fighting and dying to protect the Afghan people from the Taliban.

as salam alykom Dan, very quickly, Alhamdulelah u spared me typing with what u just explained. Jazakum Allah khairan.

Just to add on your explanation, such fatwas I think are after eliminating the culture aspect, which Curious for example who is not even a Muslim, has a major disapproval to.

Again jazakum Allah khairan and dont be quite pls.

Nasra, on a side note, if a woman has a degree in medicine, teaching, or nursing she will easily find jobs in Saudi Arabia. We must not use the blanket approach.

Easily? That's not entirely true. You have no idea what it's like to live in saudi and to come from countries like the filipines, Somalia or Ethiopia. And the Rape Statistics among young Immigrant women and how they don't get justice. If they complain they get threatened to get deported or be silenced for Good.

You have no clue in what humiliation some of these people live.

Blanket approach?

Nasra I split the thread and moved the last post to where it belongs

I m surprised as u go off topic when Dan is on the thread.....

However, I did live in Saudi Arabi on and off and visited many times, I did meet a lot of Indian, philipino and Pakistani Doctors and nurses. I will stop here not to drag the thread again off topic.

Back to falafel. There is not harm in eating them as long as they are fried in halal oil.

As usual you always come to the Defence of an Arab country whenever I say something. I'm not surprised as this has happened before. Allah knows best. You even wanted to edit me just for saying "May Allah destroy that bigoted kingdom".

And FYO My beloved Mother also lived in Saudi and she is a Doctor. I choose to believe her. You didn't even bother showing any sympathy to the women who suffer in saudi.

Dan or no Dan I would've said what I said. What has that got to do with anything.

I think It's about time that we all practise what we preach.

Peace

am sorry I have to disagree with you too.

my wife is a Filipina, and I have LOTSSSSSS of Filipino friends, Muslims and Non Muslims who live in Saudi Arabia, they are treated very well as a whole, yes I do agree that in every community there is a black sheep, but as a whole all these nationalities are treated very very well and as a result masha'Allah many of the Filipinas and Filipinos are embracing Islam EVERY DAY in Saudi Arabia, I remember in one day alone about 260 Filipino have embraced Islam in Jeddah (one of its mosques).

I don’t think there is a huge discrimination as you may feel or as you heard. Maybe your mother's experience has an effect on you.

And by the way, I’ve been to Mecca and have seen that the majority of the Somalis who live there are not perfectly practicing their religion, I once witnessed that one lady have stolen a Muslim brother from Saudi and he insisted to file a case in the police station but at the end he let her go free.

I even met a Yemeni man who told me that we are treated badly in Saudi Arabia, but not just because one person told me that then I will take it as a whole.

In my opinion, if you really feel that you are not treated well in any country. Then leave it.

And May Allah Bless and protect this great country from any harm. Ameen.

As regards to Falafel... Saudi Arabia allows Falafel. Alhamdulelah. (Just to get back back to original topic) :P

Couldn't you atleast give me the Salam first?

This is not about about agreeing or disagreeing with me. I'm talking about what really happened to people who are your Brother's and Sister's in Islam. Regardless of what nationality they are. Doesn't that concern you people at all? :(

I wasn't critisizing all saudis I was just telling you about how the government doesn't treat people equally.

Then you came back to say that you think that the majority of somali people don't practise their Islam just because you witnessed a somali woman stealing something from someone. Slandering an entire ethinic group! It's so funny how you also say "Muslim brother from Saudi and he insisted to file a case in the police station but at the end he let her go free." You are trying so hard to make that man look so good and that woman so horrible. You probably don't even know why she stole.

I won't stoop to your Level Brother and try and convince you of how practising or not practising Saudis are.

In my opinion, if you really feel that you are not treated well in any country. Then leave it.

Some people can't leave. Incase you didn't know..... Somalia is a country that had a War since 1989 all the way to this day. They have no government not even a passport to travel with. Most Somalian's are praying for things to be back to normal in their country so that they can go back home, but right now it's not very safe.

I pray that the day comes when they can Leave as they please. That was not very friendly of you just to say "leave".

I also don't believe that you are being very Honest when you say this

Quote: Muslims and Non Muslims who live in Saudi Arabia, they are treated very well as a whole
Or you are living in a very dark cave and you don't know a thing about what's going on in the world.
I'm really saddened by how you guys jumped me like this just for saying something that is true and real.

I also don't like the thread that was started by my name. I posted that article here to give people an idea of what a little bit of the truth looked like.

I know Brothers and Sister's from Saudi Arabia who would tell it like it really is, if they would've been here.

I've got nothing else to say, except good to see how supportive you people are of your Brothers and Sisters in Islam. :(

Asalaamu alikum,

I guess the best thing we can do if we see our Muslim brothers and sisters behaving incorrectly or just plain foolishly is to advice them or at least pray Allah guides them (and us). Of course none of us is free of shortcomings and all of us have something to improve about wether apparent to the people or hidden.

I always thought one of the most beautiful things about Islam is that we are a universal people. We are all colors and all languages and we have alot to learn from each other. Insha Allah we love for all our sisters and brothers what we love for ourselves. Prophet said nobody is superior by race, only by deen, and the judge of the deen is only Allah. So we are not here to judge any race or to be judged in return. Just we are here to support each other in halal.

May Allah guide us all to the right path.

I love you all,

Jennifer

People are people. Remember that. Blanket statements have always been troublesome.

Let's be sensitive to one another. Let's make du'a for one another to rid any animosity from our hearts as the Prophet saws said for us to do. This thread should also get back on track or lock it for the sake of Allah. Let any divisions be repaired. Let no more divisions occur in the Ummah. We are divided enought.

I for one apologize to all my brothers and sisters who I have offended in any way. If anyone still has any animosity in their heart towards me, please let me know so insha'Allah I can rectify that.

As Salam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu
