I used to watch American football when I was a kid, but then I grew up

* arclight wonders how the Jets are doing these days

Its still a game I can watch, but not something I would go out of my way to see.

Quote:WE DID invent....
The Airplane, Automobile, Telephone, T.V.

You like to think you did, but you didn't

Car - Karl Benz - German

Phone - Bell was scottish, and invented the phone while living in Canada but...... the broke italian Antonio Meucci couldn't afford the $10 to keep up the caveat on a patent for his phone. He later sold his prototype for a few hundred dollars to a 'scottish sounding gentleman" to make ends meet. IIRC Meucci has now been credited with inventing the phone.

TV - John Logie Baird - Scottish

Aircraft are more complicated, but the Wright brothers were the first to achieve 'sustained powered flight', which is a different thing to 'inventing the airplane'.

:P :P :P ;)

What about the lightbulb (Einstein became an American, the computer, the cotten gin, the sewing machine, the artificial heart... but how did this become a discussion about inventions????

Football rules.

Dan...I take it you are a Steelers fan. Have you always been or did you become one last year?

Not really a Steelers fan. I just like good football. It is so cool to see a program come together.

I'll always support my hometown Rams. They won yesterday but many a season has passed where the started off well and then ppbbbhhhttt...

The computer was invented in the 1800's by Babbage. Electronic computer by Tommy Flowers in 1944. Both english BTW :)

One thing you don't get in soccer is teams upping sticks and moving over to the other side of the country

*British anthem plays in the background*

*Raises the flag*

*Arclight keeps blowing towards the flag to make it seem like its fluttering in the wind majestically*
