Is Lying Wrong or Not?
#11

Quote:This is where you make the mistake of comparing god with creation.

It is actually the opposite.

I am comparing man to God. God is loving, merciful, just, righteous.

We should want to be as much like our Creator who is the ULTIMATE PERFECTION as we can.

What's wrong with that?

I'm not saying we are God or anything; just that God possesses the best attributes, the picture of perfection in all of the world that we see and that we don't see.

Quote:I agree god is merciful, forgiving etc. but not in the way humans have or apply these attributes.
How does one know god is merciful or loving or provider or protector etc?

This is because he has informed us of this and we leave it at that. How he does this is beyond our comprehension.

Then, in my opinion, it is a fruitless exercise to seek to understand God, either through the natural world which we can see and experience or through His revelations to us. Because ultimately, He is beyond our understanding/comprehension anyway, so what would be the point?

If God has said of Himself that He is loving and merciful, but we cannot understand what that really means when it comes to God, then why reveal it in the first place?

I guess this is just another HUGE fundamental difference between Muslims and Christians.

I don't believe that God would reveal Himself to mankind only for us to not really understand that revelation anyway.

BTW.....

I do not appreciate this "2nd warning" as you call it one bit. I'm sure you probably don't care.

But I don't see what I did to warrant this "warning". You mentioned something about being within the "rules" of the forum but did not bother to tell me how I broke any rules. To me that is unfair. I didn't insult Islam or your prophet or any member here with my statement.

Perhaps you'll consider this post "outside the rules" and then suspend my account. You're the boss around here, so you may do what you please.

Let me know when you've reached utopia or close to the perfection of God as possible then we will continue.

Ronnie...

In islam we have prescribed situations where telling an untruth is permissible.

Christianity doesn't, I understand. At least from what I've gleaned and the inflection in your posts.

For the record...

You may have noticed that the most quoted, revered, respected person in the NT is Paul.

The Doctrine of Paul;

2 Corinthians 12:16

Quote:16
<b>But granted that I myself did not burden you, yet I was crafty and got the better of you by deceit. </b>

Crafty and deceitful?

and a self-exposed hypocrite;

Quote:<b>19 Although I am free in regard to all, I have made myself a slave to all so as to win over as many as possible. </b>
20 To the Jews I became like a Jew to win over Jews; to those under the law I became like one under the law--though I myself am not under the law--to win over those under the law.

21 To those outside the law I became like one outside the law--though I am not outside God's law but within the law of Christ--to win over those outside the law.

22 To the weak I became weak, to win over the weak. I have become all things to all, to save at least some.

23 All this I do for the sake of the gospel, so that I too may have a share in it.

This is the sworn affidavit of christendom's most holy man - after Jesus (peace be upon him).

All things considered do you reckon he's crafty and deceitful in the following verse...for the sake of the gospel, so that he too may have a share in it...

Quote:8 Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David: such is my gospel

If you listen carefully you might hear a cock crow three times...Huh? Wasn't that a case of lying?

And didn't Jacob (peace be upon him) in your holy book steal the birthright of his brother Esau by lying?

What is the verdict of GOD on the honesty of the bible?

Quote:Jeremiah 8
4 Tell them: Thus says the LORD:...

8 How can you say, "We are wise, we have the law of the LORD"? Why, that has been <b>changed into falsehood by the lying pen of the scribes</b>!

Thus says the LORD

And you're going to stake your life in the hereafter on it??
