Quote:You attempt to chase away a brother who is concerned about the Ummah and is not afraid to state his case, yet you allow kuffar such as john doe and local to post their slanders.
A brother who is concerned about the Ummah wont start trouble with his sister in public. A person who is concerned about the Ummah wont insult his sister in public. Let me ask a question. Did Abu Noran try and speak to sister Muslimah or ask why is she editing his posts before he started this insulting topic?
Concerning non-Muslims posting, I believe it is more important to have our Muslim communities checked before we look into what our non-Muslims are talking. I think it is more important to perfect what a Muslim says in a discussion board rather than what a non-Muslim says. Yet I am not nor have I ever said that we allow a straight forward insult whether they to us or we to them.
Quote:Can you supply an example? Or is it now you who are leveling false charges?
If a Muslim's posts are being edited in an Islamic board then obviously he is breaking some rules.
Quote:I have been a moderator on another Islamic webboard for several years, and I have had the great good fortune Alhamdulillah of meeting several brothers with the fire of conviction as akhi Abu. On the other hand, I will not tolerate such as "john doe" spreading insults to Islam on the board. I think the priorities here are backwards.
Comparing such a person with John Doe is uncalled for. First of all, John Doe is not a Muslim and he's a westerner. His ideologies and thoughts are compeletly alien to us and his understanding of Islam is as most of the time, not very accurate. People could ask and speak comments that could be insulting to us Muslims but if you dont answer them then those comments would keep on circulating around while all muslims shun them away. I have meet people who claimed that Allah is a moon god, I have meet people who claimed that our beloved prophet was a pedophile, I have meet people who claimed many absurd and insulting things about Islam that you can't even imagine. Do we look away, edit and delete their posts? Or do we answer everyone who speaks against us (however insulting) and put an end to such talks?
Our priorities are to correct the Muslims before correcting the Non-Muslims because once the Muslims are corrected the Non-Muslims will learn. The Kufars wont read the Quran, they look at our actions and judge from that.
Islam is from God and God is perfect. We have an answer to every question non-Muslims might ask, but here AGAIN I say, if they start with an all out insult and curses, then ofcourse these must be deleted. I never said anything else.
So in the end, yes. I am with the editing of a Muslim's post because we always need to correct ourselves and each other when requiered. But when a non-Muslim speaks, I believe editing should only be at a minimum.
