Abunuran
We, as Muslims, demand of the Jews and Christians, to bring their scriptural proof for what they say about their beliefs and, just as with them, Allah, tells us to "bring our convincing proof" [21:24] as well for what we say about our beliefs as Muslims.
Allah, then says that:
25:33. And no question/arguement do they bring to thee but We reveal to you the truth and the best explanation (thereof).
If the hadiths, other thah Al-Qur'an of course, were to be used for guidance, then why does Allah ask this rhetorical question?
So, the questions on the table then are these...are the hadiths, other than Al-Qur'an, and the so-called Sunnah of the Prophet, permissable for guidance? Well, according to the following ayats, they are not, because we cannot prove them via Al-Qur'an, to wit:
77:50. Fabi-ayyi hadeethin
baAAdahu yu/minoona
77:50. Then what Message, after that, will they believe in?
There is no Sunnah of the Prophet or Sunnah of Muhammad or Sunnah of the Messenger mentioned in Al-Qur'an. The only two sunnahs mentioned are the Sunnah of Allah and the sunnah of the ancients.
35:43. Istikbaran fee al-ardi wamakra alssayyi-i wala yaheequ almakru alssayyi-o illa bi-ahlihi fahal yanthuroona illa sunnata al-awwaleena
falan tajida lisunnati Allahi
tabdeelan walan tajida lisunnati Allahi
tahweelan
35:43 On account of their arrogance in the land and their plotting of Evil, but the plotting of Evil will hem in only the authors thereof. Now are they but looking for the way the ancients
were dealt with? But no change wilt thou find in Allah.s way
(of dealing): no turning off wilt thou find in Allah's way
.
Now, if we are to continue to say that there is a sunnah of the Prophet or Muhammad or the Messenger, then we must be able to go to Al-Qur'an and display the ayat where Allah, as with the other two sunnahs, names a...sunnah of the Prophet. If we cannot do this, then we cannot prove there is any sunnah of the Prophet which we should be following.
Looking forward to your response.
