`Abdullah bin Mas`ud (may Allah be pleased with him) observed:



I asked Allah's Messenger (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him):


Which deed was the best. He (the Holy Prophet, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: Prayer at its appointed hour. I (again) said: Then what? He said: Kindness to the parents. I (again) said: Then what? He replied: Jihad in the cause of Allah.

Lessons deduced:


1- Prayer is the right due to Allah on His servants, second in rank only after declaring the two testimonies (that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah).


2- The importance of treating parents kindly, an obligation which was mentioned in the Hadith along with Prayer and Jihad.


3- Jihad is the greatest kind of sacrifice on can give, as it includes the right of Allah and that of people.
