Quote: as salam alykom
my humble input being an Egyptian who studied history of Egypt.
We were taught that Jacques Menou enbraced Islam and married an Egyptian, being of the Messenger's descendant or not was not confirmed in my history book.
As for Napleopn himself I did not study anything in this regard apart from him stepping into Azhar Masjed with his horses.
At the end I share Dan's Petitdija, Khairan and Senorita's opinion about who embraces Islam.
Islam is a gift it adds to the person who embraces it not the opposite.
Yet, according to Islamic history, the Messenger (sallah Allah a`alyhee wa sallam) said O Allah support Islam with the embracing of either two Omars (he was referring to Amr Ibn Al A`as and Omar Ibn Al Khattab). Alhamdulelah both did embrace Islam and were major assets as well.
Bismillah,
Assalamu'alaikum,
mmm, difficult enough to explain what's in my mind in english
Of course both shahaba, Amr and Omar (ra) were major assets for Islam, but you see, it's the du'a of the Rasulullah (saw). And Alhamdulillah Allah (swt) fulfilled it.
and talking about european who embraced islam and being of the Messenger's descendant (some people said so, some said no-- about this descendant), it happend once in my country. This man was a very brilliant person. Even he did the hajj, talked Arabic like native, knew Qu'ran well. This man is famous here, well known infact as the poeple who embraced islam to be able help his nation occupied my homeland. He did successfully. He was Snouck Horgronje.
This man could be the major asset too for muslim esp. my country, if he was a real muslim. But you see, what did he do?!
You see, the era of Rasulullah (saw) is different with the era of people after him. >> refer to my previos post about >> As one of the shahaba said (i forget who was he), more or less insyaAllah like this (i just take the point): "when Rasulullah shallallahualaihi wa salam was still alive, we knew what was wrong or right directly, cos when we were not sure about something, we could directly ask to him. But now he is not among us. We just judge(?) someone from what comes out from his/her mouth, and we see what we can see from his/her action."
