Assalamu'alaikum,

I think what the sister is saying (forgive me if I am incorrect, just roll your eyes. ) is that some muslims look to famous people being muslims as a way of validating the religion. I have seen this from some brothers who I know. I think that we can all agree that this is not proper. Once again, petitedija, if I am mistaken then let me know. Never mind. I KNOW that you will.

That's correct brother Dan. Jazakallahu for your explanation.

but u know it would be nice information if it is true and u will gain more knowledge in history, which is one way of being a true muslim, education from all aspects.

Yes, my dear sister. You are right.
We can learn a lot from history. But the problem is what kind of history do we study? History about Rasulullah shallallahualaihi wa salam, shahaba, tabiin, tabiut tabiin radhiyallahuma ajmaiin, it's something we should know about.
History about previous ummah like Aad, Tsamud, people around prophet Luth alaihisalam, we can take many lesson from them.
Those stories are trustfull, because some of them are in the Quran. And we know how is the way of hadits from Rasulullah shallallahualaihi wa salam and shahaba.
What about the history of Napoleon? I'm sure we all know the answer.
I believe the king Najasy was muslim, cos Rasulullah shallallahualaihi wa salam said so.
Who can give guarantee about Napoleon?
As one of the shahaba said (i forget who was he), more or less insyaAllah like this (i just take the point): "when Rasulullah shallallahualaihi wa salam was still alive, we knew what was wrong or right directly, cos when we were not sure about something, we could directly ask to him. But now he is not among us. We just judge(?) someone from what comes out from his/her mouth, and we see what we can see from his/her action."
This world is full of things we should learn about. But at the same time it's better for us to choose what we want to learn about. Of course we should choose what is good for our deen.
I'm sorry if my words are not clear, cos arabic and english are not my language, even french. I'm still learning.
Subhanallahu wallahu'alam.
wassalamualaikum,
