Quote: I think what the sister is saying (forgive me if I am incorrect, just roll your eyes. ) is that some muslims look to famous people being muslims as a way of validating the religion. I have seen this from some brothers who I know. I think that we can all agree that this is not proper. Once again, petitedija, if I am mistaken then let me know. Never mind. I KNOW that you will.

Okay posting with this new format is weird.
Um, anyway, Dan I have to agree with you and petitedija on this one. If Napoleon was a Muslim, so what? The Way of the Lord should not need celebrity endorsement to make it more attractive. Also, this sort of thinking is a double-edged sword. You can take a famous and respected person (Napoleon may or may not be considered "respected") and argue that they are Muslim and therefore Islam is special, but:
first, it misses the point that God does not need people to approve of his decrees
second, what will you say when someone selects a reprehensible Muslim and says "This person believes in Islam, therefore Islam must be terrible"?
This isn't an attack on the OP, but I sometimes think Muslims are really insecure about their faith or are constantly trying to justify it to the more-powerful West, and the article posted here feels like just that.
