Assalamu'alaikum,
This topic reminds me something. Years ago, I heard some famous people converted to Islam. One of them was Michael Jackson. Many people was surprised here, some showed very happy expression. WOW..they said
Me...? I just took it as something usual. My friend asked me why I just gave dry expression about it. I said: MJ converts to islam. So what? that's good for him if it's true. Just let's see.
Now I can see (from media) How MJ is. I say to myself, Alhamdulillah I didn't feel happy for him at that time.
For me no matter who it is, if someone becomes a muslim (not only words but also in action), insyaAllah I will love him/her as my sis/bro in the name of Allah SWT.
I will be happy for him/her.
I just can see what I can see with my own eyes. For something that I can't see, I leave it fully to Allah alone.
I think it's more important for muslim to learn more about Islam and try to be a good muslim by following the path of Rasulullah shallallahu alahi wa salam and spread Islam through out the world then just being "WOW" to hear about famous people who converts to Islam.
It's useless if we think or try hard to find whether this one is muslim or not while we, ourselves, do not try to be a good muslim.

I think what the sister is saying (forgive me if I am incorrect, just roll your eyes. ) is that some muslims look to famous people being muslims as a way of validating the religion. I have seen this from some brothers who I know. I think that we can all agree that this is not proper. Once again, petitedija, if I am mistaken then let me know. Never mind. I KNOW that you will.
