Okay this is a long one... - the main theme is me wanting to know why I should be a Muslim- I basically am deciding between Catholicism and Islam and I want to know why Christianity is not the chosen religion of God- basically I want you to disprove Christianity to me and show me what makes Islam the religion of God. This make take a while, because I know that you say Christianity is a man made religion and Islam is the religion of God, but prove to me the Christianity is man made- i’ve given some reasons why I don’t think it is, but if you are able to disprove them, then I will have to reconsider Christianity. Thanks for the help
See, I don't think that Christianity is man made, just because of the title of the religion. The title of my faith and religion is Catholicism key word catholic(which means universal). When I say I am Catholic that means that I belong to the universal establishment of Christ, which we(as Catholics) believe is the Catholic Church.
What I don't understand is the timing of Islam. It began or was restored about 1,400 years ago, where as Christianity began about 2000 years ago. People believed in Christianity over 800 years before Islam was even started or restored.( one question- if everyone was born and is born a Muslim, then why wasn’t/isn’t the whole world Islamic? What happened between the time of Adam and the time of Christ that made people not believe in Islam- and if Islam was the religion of God, then why didn’t Jesus preach that- it’s just hard for me to see people follow Jesus so devotedly and not believe what he said if he said that Islam is the religion of God, or that he isn’t the Messiah, then why would people just make that up)
If Jesus was a prophet of God, then why didn't he teach people that Muhammad would come and that he wasn't the Son of God, or the Savior, or the Christ. Too many people believed that he was the Messiah, for me to believe that he didn't say he was. Like where did people get the idea that he was the savior, if he himself never said it? If he was just another prophet then he should have spoken of Muhammad and that he was the one who would bring the truth to the world about God. He should have written something down like Moses and the stories of Abraham did. But there is no historical evidence that Jesus ever wrote anything dealing with Christianity or Islam. I can understand why this would be another reason to not believe in Christianity, but we as Christians(ie Catholics) believe that this is why he chose apostles. They were the priests and leaders and testaments of what Christ left behind. He chose them to carry one his teaching and legacy and for them to write them down and share to others. Hints the bible.(we believe that God inspired the writers of the bible and therefore the holy spirit blessed them by allowing to write only the truth in the bible- we believe that the bible is the inspired word of God and, yes it was written by human hands, but God guided those hands to write his will which in the end produces the bible) The first bible was compiled 300 years after the time of Christ, by Catholic monks/priests. (The writings by the apostles were there but there weren’t together collectively in a book, so they taught by example- Jesus the first example chose 12 apostles to teach the 12 tribes of the world about him. They were given the power of the Holy Spirit- a gift from God and then went and taught others of Jesus from his examples- this is where you get the Christian Church(ie the Catholic Church). The first mention of the word Catholic was in 154 AD by Ignatius of Antioch, when he said, “where ever you find Jesus Christ you will find the Catholic church.” If I am not mistaken, Islam began in 602 AD. That is 448 years between the mention of the Catholic Church and Islam.
There were tons of false prophets before Jesus- the old testaments even warns about them- claiming to be the Messiah. No one believed these other prophets, and no religions were formed on these prophets. Then what made them believe that Jesus was the savior if he never taught that he was? And what made them form a whole religion which based it’s foundation upon that very principal? Why has that prophet, caused such a massive reaction to God resulting in the largest religion on Earth? If that isn’t God’s religion, then why are there so many who believe that it is?
(The term Christianity was given to those who believed that Jesus was the Christ. It is written in the bible so that is why we call ourselves Christians. All Christians are not the same, and I can understand this is confusing and something that might tell you that Christianity is not the religion of God. That is why I believe that the Catholic Church is the Christian Church that Jesus founded(that’s a whole other story ) so when I say Christianity, I mean that which is defined by the Catholic Church, and not other quote on quote christian churches(ie Protestant).)
Thank you so much for the help!! I appreciate it!!
