Asalaamu alikum,
There is a newer one out now in the states by Sami Yusuf. I really like it, but I do have a question that insha Allah someone here will be able to answer for me:
Does anyone know what is the ruling about listening to songs that praise Allah or the Prophet s.a.w that include both music and singing at the same time? For example, if you are listening to such a song, most in particular when it is not in your native language and it makes you feel like dancing I cannot imagine this is a good thing. I heard at one point that sounds of nature used as music or the use of drums is acceptable, and I heard another one that it must be either the music alone, or the singing alone, but not the two together.
If anyone can give some input on this I would appreciate it. It seems like there are conflicting opinions, therefore I am hoping for something from Quran or Sunnah that mentions how nasheeds were done at the time of the Prophet s.a.w and the 4 rightly guided Khalifa.
I hope this is not diverting too much away from the original topic.
Jazak Allah khairn,
~Jennifer
