Just a story!!!!

As salam alaikum

My brothers and sisters we must be careful of plagiarizing (taking, using, or passing off the thoughts, writings, or invention of someone else as one's own).

I have seen this done before where a story looked familiar but I could not place it exactly. I did not have definate proof so I kept my mouth shut (or in this case my fingers still).

This story is actually a children's book called The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. It did not take me long to look it up because it is a pretty popular book. I just went to Amazon.com and searched the books section. It was the top selection.

The reason I bring this up is that we as muslims get angry if certain advances in technology, science, or any other area in civilization is not properly attributed to us. Also plagiarism is a form of lying.

I am assuming that this brother heard the story from someone who did not tell him where he go this story. My warning goes out to the one who knew from where the story came.

Since this story is fairly well known in America (it is read in preschools and kindergartens across the nation), I thought it would be best if a muslim pointed this out first to show that we are not trying to pass off things and stories as our's that are not.

Allah Forgive me for any wrong that I have committed. I ask forgiveness from those who feel offended. I am only trying to look out for our ummah.
