Salamu 'alaikum,
I heard recently a lecture given by our brother Adda'iya Amr Khaled, may Allah protect him, about Khushu' while praying.
So khushu' while praying starts acutally before praying. It must start while doing the ablution. One must know that while we are doing the ablution we are washing away all our sins that our eyes, ears, hands and feet fall in.
One of the things that could bring the khushu' in prayer is consider every prayer as if it is the last prayer that we are performing , as if immediately after performing it we will meet with our dear Allah.
Once we face the Qibla, we must bring to mind the site of Qa'ba just in front of us.
We must also imagine that Paradise is on our right, the hell on our left and the Angel of death is waiting for us to finish our prayer in order to take our soul.
One more thing that can bring the khushu', and it really works is to know what we read, i.e to know the interpretation of the chapter that we are reading. That's why reading the interpretation of the Holy Quran is so important.
One could learn by heart the two last ahzaab of the Quran and read their interpretation and start reciting them in prayer. It's actually a very efficient way to bring the khushu' while praying.
I hope that this could help to bring you more khushu' while praying incha'Allah. May Allah grant us all khushu' in prayer in order to feel that it is really accepted.
Salam
