On the authority of `Abdullah bin `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) who reported that the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had said:


If I remain alive till the next year, I shall keep the fast on the ninth of Al-Muharram.

Lessons Deduced:

- Observing Fast on the ninth and tenth days of Al-Muharram is recommended.

- The wisdom of adding the ninth day to the tenth is to differ from the Jews who single out the tenth day with a fast.
