Habib, just also to fulfill my duty and answer a question u posted here being a female. Once I worked with a Jewish American woman for quite sometime that we developed a close relation. She was interested in studying women related issues in Islam. She made the same point about the difference in witensses. In no way this is disrespectful of wome. I just asked her, what was her behaviour during pregancy with her husband? she said I was very itchy asking for divorce for the tiniest argument, not having enough tolerance, tends to forget. Same conditions a woman passes by every month. In this she is not less than the man, but due to her psychological different conditions tends to forget or be under emotional stress that might make her judgment wrong. Allah, in the witness issue, stresses the necessity of a correct statement.

As for inheritance, a woman is supposed to be supported by husband, brother or male members. She is also entitled for totally independant financial status. In other words, what ever inheritance she has, or money from any other source, a husband is not allowed to use, yet is obliged to support the wife. So that makes a man needs 2 times what a woman may take, since she will enjoy her own financial resources and be supported by the male member.

I have another point but I will consult with Dan first
Very good Muslimah but I also note you did not respond to the number of wives a muslim man can have (4?) and yet a woman can only have 1 husband. I find that very odd.

Also, from this web site, read this article,

http://www.islamsms.com/en/modules.php...article&sid=309

If at a particular time, a lady has no desire for sex with her husband, but he insists for it, what is her right of refusal in this context ?

A5. If a husband expresses his desire for sexual intercourse with his wife, and asks her to fulfill his need, then she should fulfill her husband's desire, and she has no right to refuse him or deprive him of his need (unless of course if she is undergoing her monthly menstruation period or is down with illness.

Islam encourages and insists on chastity and fidelity. Islam prohibits and condemn illicit sexual relations, extra-maritial affairs, pre-marriage sex, fornication, adultery, prostitution, pornography and promiscuity. It is for this reason that a wife is bound to fulfill her husband's sexual desires so as to prevent him form straying.

Narrarted Abu Huraira

In other words, the husband can essentialy rape his wife and Allah is fine with that ?

Also, it is the fault of the woman that a husband strays from the marriage. Don't you think this seems a bit lopsided ?

No one has responded to an earlier issue I had in regards to the age of consent for girls to marry being as low as 9 years old.

Please respond to both these issues and try and make it seem sensible, fair and logical and then I can determine if Islam is oppresive for women or not.
