I am sorry to hear that.  I ask Allah to forgive me if it is due to my shortcomings at explaining Islam.  Believe me.  I am not able to give the answers I would like if I had an Islamic education.

I basically feel that I have failed in representing Islam in a manner that befits it.  If you had my perspective and knowledge I truly believe that you would like Islam.  The highly inquisitive and reflective usually do.  I also believe that if I had the information and perspective that you have then I would probably feel the same as you.

No, things were pretty well explained by yourself and others. Islam is just not the answer to what ails the world or humanity. It badly needs reform.

I respect your decision because at least you asked questions and inquired about answers instead of just following the way of others because it is the easiest thing to do.  Please do remember though that the only perfect human example for Islam died over fourteen hundred years ago.  I know that I definitely make mistakes but it does not mean that Islam is mistaken.

Now here is where I really beg to differ about the prophet. I just don't think he is the "perfect" guy that Muslims hold him up to be.

Whatever religion or spirituality that you pursue (if any), I only hope that you will look further into it than the Internet before making a final decision.  It is a resource but can be pretty flimsy at times.  Check out the relgions literature or talk to a person educated in the religion before committing.

 

You have said that this is mostly a hobby anyway, but I just wanted to express my frustration and disappointment at myself for your decision.

Once again Insha'Allah I will be forgiven for my shortcoming in representing Islam.  I also wish for you to accept my apology for my behavior as well.

I already had a rough idea of what Islam was, some preconceptions I had were wrong and unfortunately some of them were correct, particularly where it comes to sex, treatment for non muslims in muslim majority countries, treatment of women and human rights in general.

But anyways, thanks for your contribution and peace be with you.
