Actually, drinking of wine is allowed in the Bible. Becoming drunk with wine is not. Tareq posted one verse about being drunk but incorrectly attributed it to drinking in general, which is not the case.
Ephesians 5:18
(18) And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,
The above verse does not say "do not drink wine", it is a warning to not become intoxicated. In the qualifications to be a cleric in Christianity, the following is observed:
Titus 1:7
(7) For an overseer, as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain,
But the story at the beginning of the thread was a joke...and a funny one at that.
