I agree with the above post. The suggestion for drinking a glass of wine comes from an antibiotic called Resveratrol. Resveratrol is a phytoalexin found in the skin of red grapes and is a constituent of red wine and has been shown to have health benefits. However like the above post, I do not agree that having wine should become part of a person's normal diet. Since we know that this substance can be found in red grapes....why not eat the grapes? Garlic is also a source of phytoalexin and its health benefits have also been documented.
I do not know what benefit beer and distilled spirits have (any any) as no phytoalexins have been found in them.
