Asalaamu alikum
I really dont think she felt she is doing anything incorrect. I get to see alot of pictures from Egypt and it seems like the typical 'hijab' is a pair of trousers, a blouse, and that oblong kind of scarf that covers the hair and neck but thats about it. Am I right? I guess its normal if most of the people are doing something you wont feel you are wrong when you do the same. Especially when it is more socially acceptable to do the wrong way than the correct way. And the makeup, WOW!
About 6 months ago a Syrian Muslim college of my husband had a wife who just started to wear hijab. They wanted me to meet her. When I met her, I found her in tight blue jeans, a very tight black sweater and some kinda thing that covered up her hair in kind of an "aunt Jamima" kind of way. It covered just her hair. Not even the neck or anything. I dont know what she was wearing before that, but this, to her, was and is hijab.
I wish, just as Allah sent this man to make an offhand remark to get the Egyptian girls attention, that He will do the same for this other young lady. I guess she must have something good in her that he send the man to give her a message.
May Allah forgive us and have mercy on all of us and help all become better Muslims, Ameen.
