End of LEAs
#2

While I agree with the premise that faith schools and bilingual learning is an indispensible part of a childs education, the abolishment of LEA's in Britain i dont think is the best idea. Although OFSted may not be able to assess spiritual learning, they do provide an invaluable service in setting standards.

Quote:There is ample evidence that state schools foster intolerance, hate and bullying. There is no evidence that Muslim schools indoctrinate children with values and endanger shared society.

I think that statement is false and cannot be generalised to state schools in britain. I went to a couple of coed state schools in Wales and England as well as single sex public school. I don't think the education system as it is set up foster intolerance at all. Of course there are areas where ethnic minorities are so sparse that negative trends permeate society (e.g. BNP in Solihull). However this cant really be viewed as a failing in the educational set up.
