Bismillah: Assalamo Alikum.


The purpose for bringing Native Deen during Amr Khaled's visit to USA, in my opinion to break any barrier between Non Muslim audience and the Muslims on the stage, and to give an idea to Non Muslims that we are also normal people, using accessible language, [u]fashionable and religious
[/u] at the same time; why cant we listen to music and go out and have fun while still wearing the veil and and observing our religous duties as Muslims?


Of course this is not an argument with you sister, this is only my opinion and jazaki Allahu khiran for your input.

wa alykom as salam Wael, this is exactly where the porblem lies. Being Muslims is enough, we dont need to show the west that we are like them, because we are not. Being a normal muslim certainly differs totally with any normal non muslim in each and every aspect. Fashion is not part of our Deen. I dont have to follow fashion to show ohters that I m like them. I just have to follow what Allah Commands. In my humble opinion, if we work on this ground our voices will be stronger, because we will not have to be torn between trying to fit in and applying our Deen.
