All for the greater glory of God.
Assalamu alaikum!
Quote:I think if you feel proud and confident in what you are wearing it will not matter to you what anybody else is thinking about it. When I go outside it never occurs to me to fret over what anybody else is thinking about what I am wearing and weather or not they approve of it.
Please don't get me wrong, I don't intend on trading in my Nike shorts for an abaya anytime soon (I will wear one during my visits to Islamic countries though - I can't wait!). The reason why I'm fascinated by all this is because where I'm from Hijab is a big deal. Down the road from where I live there's a Pharmacy owned by Muslims & they refuse to serve a woman who isn't veiled. Of course I could just ignore them & travel to another Pharmacy but that'll just dodge the problem not solve it (to me it's a problem).
Quote:Her attire makes clear that she is not an object for sale, advertising her beauty and availabilty for men's lusting eyes and wolf whistles. We need little reminder of the immoral society around us today in which the sexes mingle wearing indecent clothes
Does Islam teach that a woman out of hijab is inviting this reaction? How is she to be treated?
Quote:Islam makes no distinction between man and women.
Why aren't Muslim men required to cover up from head to toe? Again, I can only judge by what I see with my own eyes & I can't help but think that there is a distinction between men & women in Islam. So many times I pass an Islamic couple out in public - the lady is decked out in full gear & the gentleman is in shorts, a singlet & flip flops! Sometimes I see men (usually in front of the mosque) wearing long robes that cover pretty much everything but that's not compulsory is it?
By the way, thanks for posting the info, MMF :)
One last thing... is modesty the main reason why women hijab or is it to prevent temptation/sin?
God bless.
