Bismillah
salam FHC,
I m sure I understand your point, both Surah's are Madania (revealed in Medina), if I placed the Ayahs from Surah Hadid (Quran 57) before the one from Ma``ida, I was just trying to explain to you the way u placed them. However, both are interrelated, as both Ayahs defined exactly the attitude of those who embraced Monasticism in different situations. One explains their attitude towards the Quran, specifically when it was recited (it was Surat Mariam), when Muslims sought the protection of king Najashy in Ethiopea against the tyranny of the non believers, who followed them in order to have Najashy hand them over. The non belivers wanted to instill enmity so they told Najashy that Quran says about Jesus that he is only a Prophet and Mariam is his mother. Najashy asked them to recite Quran, the delegate picked Mariam to recite, as he recited the preiests and monks who were present cried so did Najashy for being touched with the Quran.
That was their position, the other Ayah of Surat Hadid, explains about those who chose to go into Monasticism and how Allah Didnt Ordain it on them.
Well, I can see that u wanted to reply using the same methodology and u made a search, we are not saying that Muslims dont commit rape, Zina and the like of crimes which are highly punishable (stoning is for one and in public), we are sying that those Muslims are not committed to a status they chose willingly in the name of God. I still remember Jimmy Swagart who stood in a debate opposite to Deedat may Allah Accept him and grant him highest ranks in Jannah, and next month, la hawla wala qowata ila billah was widely scandilised in a similar case which was widely publiced.
this is the point Wael wanted to introduce. I m not putting words in his mouth and of course he can correct me.
Again, sorry FHC if u felt any offense that was not the intention.
