Repentance

What role does repentance play in Sharia Law? If someone commits a sin, e.g. theft, fornication, homosexual practices, e.t.c., however, completes the steps of repentence you cited above, are they exempt from the severe punishments that usually coincide with these acts? Insh a Allah! When Allah forgives, does the stain of sin completely wash away from the penitent's soul & the accompanying guilt get removed too so they are made clean again?

Simple… we do not need any blood sacrifice to wash away our sins. <b>only sincere repentance</b>

Yes I was teasing you… but be careful, it was not an “Islamic” fashion. Islam does not do unjust to anyone :)

How do you reconcile your earlier statement "We are all humans and we all sin. That’s why we need help to prevent ourselves from sinning in the future" , with the rest of your post (the above quote)?

Ok maybe you found my statement a little bit misleading because I did not go into details on the ways that Muslims should follow to avoid committing sins. Insh a Allah will talk in details about this later.

Do faithful Muslims sin too?

Yes, but unintended mistakes, in which they may ask for Allah’s forgiveness as soon as they realize their error, but they do not intentionally disobey God Almighty, am talking about faithful Muslims huh.

Can a Muslim go through their entire life always following the path of Allah & not straying even once (considering they haven't inherited Original Sin)?

It depends on one’s IMAN… but as I explained before, the moment you realize your sin, repent with sincerity, insh a Allah your sins will be forgiven.

Although Mohammad (PBUH) was deceived by Satan into preaching the Satanic Verses;

Was he free from all sin?
Was Jesus Christ, the "prophet" in Islam, a sinner?

Muslims believe the Prophets were sinless and pure, (<b>it doesn’t mean they were divine</b>)… we do not believe that Prophets commit major sins like drunkenness as attributed to Noah in the Bible for example.


However, since you are originally an Arab, you may still remember the word <b>khatee’ah/ khataayaa </b> i.e Sin/Sins… which is impossible in the case of all Prophets. It is more correct to say mistakes, because a mistake may be made unintentionally, which is not the case with sins. So the Messengers of Allah, including Muhammad never committed any sin intentionally as an act of disobedience towards Allaah after receiving their Mission . They were protected from major sins.


And Yes, the Prophets and Messengers made mistakes, but Allaah did not approve of their mistakes; rather, He pointed out their mistakes as a Mercy to them and their ummahs, and He forgave their mistakes and accepted their repentance as a Grace and Mercy, for Allaah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
