Quote:Some of you may say give it to a non-believer (we tend to do this alot anyway), but isn't our job to convince our non-believing humans to see our way of life, correct them to the right path?

Asalaamu alikum,

When it comes to food, I really feel like it is wrong to throw it away, unless it is something like alcohol or pork, but these things would typically be declined as gifts anyhow, I think.

Example: My son loves to eat marshmellows, but we have to buy them from the halal grocery as all marshmellows available in the chain stores contain geletin. A friend with good intentions brought some of the geletin marshmellows for my son, and the initial reaction was to throw them out, however we decided it will be better to give them to the neighbor boy and just explain we cant have the geletin.

I feel like by doing this we are:

1. not wasting food

2. being nice to neighbors

3. opening the door for discussion into our faith

Thats my solution, although I dont know if it is the best one.

May Allah guide us all to the right path, Ameen
