In the Name of God - Father Son Holy Spirit
Peace Wael :peace:
Quote:Bismillah:
So why Christians are bothering themselves by being Catholic, Protestants etc… since all Christians are going to be saved on the condition of believing that Jesus died on the Cross, then you guys should not argue about which Church you should follow. plus am sure that ‘Born agains’ are going to disagree totally on what you just said.
It's complicated. Here's some background...
Martin Luther taught that faith alone will get you into Heaven - which is a heresy - Catholics believe faith without works is dead.
John Calvin came along & added predestination to Luther's idea - which is a heresy - Catholics believe that God wills all souls to spend eternity in Heaven & only through our own free-will do we separate ourselves from God in Hell.
Protestants are guaranteed salvation upon the one-off act of accepting Christ as "their personal Lord and Savior" - which is a heresy - Catholics believe that Christ conquered sin & made Heaven accessible for all, however, we must earn our salvation (with the help of God's grace of course).
In a nutshell - Martin Luther suffered from scruples & he felt as though nothing he did pleased God, which is partly the reason why he invented the 'Justification by Faith' doctrine. Once you alter one Church teaching, there's nothing stopping you from altering more. Reformer after reformer began breaking away & constructing their own churches.
Who could forget King Henry VIII... before the Protestant revolt, the King of England severed all ties with Rome because the Pope refused to grant his numerous requests for multiple divorces. Hence, the Anglican/Episcopalian/Church of England denomination. Lovely!
Born-Again Christians are a branch of Protestantism, formed in the 1960's... almost 2000 years after Christ founded His One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church.
Hi unit :wavey:
Quote:is this paschal word the same as pesher?)
Paschal = Passover
Pesher = Interpretation
Quote:the life is in the blood/forbidden to eat blood/then implementation of blood ritual??
We do not eat the blood of a creature.
Quote:but you forgot 'let the dead bury the dead' ;)
This verse speaks about detachment & self-surrender if we are to follow Jesus - who is not dead but alive!!!
Quote:another problem is just what IS required of the believer? (depending on who you talk to this ranges from keeping commandments to wielding snakes) however i would assume that a commandment that has issued from jesus' mouth (eat my body) should qualify?
Everything revolves around the Eucharist - it's the source & summit of the life & mission of the Church.
What's required? To imitate Christ & show perfect obedience like Our Lady ;)
God bless you & yours.
