As far as I'm aware, there is no "official" Catholic position in regards to Islamic beliefs. We acknowledge that Muslims are fellow sons & daughters of Abraham - no doubt about it! Most Catholics will even admit that Muhammed (PBUH) had some sort of mystical experience :)
In my unwarranted opinion, I think Islam is more of a Jewish heresy with Christian elements thrown into it.
Each to their own, I guess!
