I think one of the reasons that people like the internet is that they can say and do things that they could never do in reality. Some good, some bad.


I have to wonder though at what people are so afraid of being discovered if something like the protection of innocent children can't get them to accept such measures.

Because its the thin end of the wedge. Right now they say its to stop paedophiles, but give it six months and it would be expanded to cover financial fraud, or some such. Then six months later something else. Each change would be subtle, and barely noticed by the public, and anyone complaining would be shouted down with the "What have you got to hide?" line.
