Bismillah
as salam alykom eminemom
Welcome to our board and it is really good to see people coming on from the US. We have quite a number of members on the board from the US as well.
For me, I m in Egypt, people hear get ready by getting new clothes for the children, make or buy special type of cookies that are only made for Eid. Those cookies are round, thick and filled with either dates, cooked honey, Lukoom (turkish declicacy) and then sprinkled with sugar. There are also assorted biscuits. On the day of Eid, people go out for prayer, then gather for lunch with family members. Children go playing. In most of the cases, people take long holiday and go outside of the city to beaches or other resorts. You know the whether here is still hot.
May Allah accept our prayer, fasting and all ameen.
