Very unfortunate indeed. However, such incidents are bound to happen in a situation like this. If the head of the Catholic church who's thought to be an "intellect" by his followers has no hesitation talking so irresponsibly, then why blame a gunman from the streets for acting senselessly?
To add a little on the Pope's unitelligent strategy, his recent words only prove how little he knows about Islam despite his so-called "intellectualism." No doubt, his shallow, baseless and provocative comments should simply be ignored for that's what the beloved Prophet would have done if he [pbuh] was here today. However some thoughts did cross my mind. Inadvertently, the Pope's remarks exposed a grim reality - the infamous inquisitors of the middle ages still have many friends!
And today the vatican announced that the text read by the pope was a "quote" and did not reflect his views. So what was the purpose of reading a belligerent quote if it really didn't reflect his views? Such lies only add insult to injury. And these are the people who pose to be the champions of love and peace! Unless this is an innovated method of propagating 'love' in acordance with the vatican's political clout, I'm surely not acquainted with such an approach to 'love, peace or intellualism.'
In any case, a faith that has itself perpetrated the type of horrendous intolerance as seen in the History of the Inquisition for over 7 centuries all over Europe has little right to defame others with slanderous quotes such as that of a 14th century Byzantine authoritarian.
